Abdirahiim Yassin Tells Us How SamoChat is Innovating the Social Media Scene and the Startup behind It

First of all, how are you doing in these COVID-19 times?

Abdirahiim Yassin: I’m doing great, just trying to get used to the new normal.

Tell us about you, your career, how you founded Samsoft.

Abdirahiim Yassin: Since I was a kid, I always loved creating new stuff, and at a young age, I began developing software and programming. Then while I was still in high school in 2016, I founded Samsoft. Two years later, in 2018, we released SamoChat as a product under our startup.

How does Samsoft innovate?

Abdirahiim Yassin: We innovate in different sectors, one of the most renowned privacy in social media platforms. With our privacy-oriented social media platform, SamoChat, we strive to protect the privacy of our users. SamoChat doesn’t have any kind of tracking, data mining, or anything that compromises other people’s privacy. It also has locked messages, where no one can read the messages except for the sender and the receiver.

How the coronavirus pandemic affects your business, and how are you coping?

Abdirahiim Yassin: Like almost everything else, this pandemic has both a good and bad side. Since people are quarantined and spend most of their time indoors at home, our traction and userbase increased, but since the attackers are also at home with free time, so did the malicious attacks on our platform. We’re monitoring our platform and taking necessary precautions to protect it against attackers.

Did you have to make difficult choices, and what are the lessons learned?

Abdirahiim Yassin: Thankfully, no, we were already operating remotely, and our startup is based online, so you could say that we were prepared for the pandemic.

How do you deal with stress and anxiety?

Abdirahiim Yassin: Whenever I feel stress or anxiety, I take a break to calm down, and then I get back to work

Who are your competitors? And how do you plan to stay in the game?

Abdirahiim Yassin: Our competitors are social media giants, and we plan to stay in the game by providing a safe social space without compromising anyone’s privacy and keeping our users satisfied.
