We talked to Adrian Domocos of HotinSocialMedia.com about digital marketing tips, and he had the following to say:-

First of all, how are you and your family doing in these COVID-19 times?

Adrian Domocos: My family and I are doing very well, thanks for asking. Since the beginning of the year, when the pandemic took the world by storm, we’ve protected ourselves as much as we could but tried not to be more scared than normal. I started working from home in the middle of March this year, and I’m still working from home.

Tell us about you, your career, how you founded HotinSocialMedia.com.

Adrian Domocos: I’ve been making websites since high school, and when I was at University (at the Computer Engineer section), I realized that it wasn’t enough to make good websites unless you had a good marketing strategy (to get traffic and leads).

After working for several years as a Marketing Manager or Project Manager in different startups and multinational companies, I launched a website in a field I really love: digital marketing.

HotinSocialMedia.com is a digital marketing blog launched 8 years ago with the main focus to learn and practice different SEO and digital marketing tactics through this online project.

How does HotinSocialMedia.com innovate?

Adrian Domocos: Hot in Social Media is a blog where you can read digital marketing news and tips, but that’s not all. Although this year was atypical compared to other years, we’ve managed to launch 2 new free tools for marketers, bloggers, writers, students, and not only:

Word Counter Tool – an online word counter tool that will instantly show you some basic metrics: the number of words, characters, sentences, and paragraphs.

Social Media Character Counter Tool – there are a lot of people that constantly post on different social media channels, but they always have issues with the character limitation when posting on Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn, etc. If you use our free tool… you will not have this issue again.

How the coronavirus pandemic affects your business, and how are you coping?

Adrian Domocos: This coronavirus pandemic doesn’t affect us because people who have an offline business are trying to move their business online and are searching for digital marketing strategies. We have some useful articles for this.

Hot in Social Media’s community is growing faster during these pandemic times. We are happy to help more and more people with digital marketing solutions, and the first step is for them to read some useful articles.

Did you have to make difficult choices, and what are the lessons learned?

Adrian Domocos: We didn’t have to make difficult choices like cutting some of our contributors’ payments or so on. Actually, we tried writing more useful and detailed articles to get more traffic on our blog.

As I answered another question, we succeeded in launching 2 new digital tools this year (Word Counter Tool and Social Media Character Counter Tool), which have been well received by our marketers’ community.

How do you deal with stress and anxiety? How do you project yourself and HotinSocialMedia.com in the future?

Adrian Domocos: I’m a social guy who likes talking in person with my colleagues, and to be honest with you, I don’t particularly like working from home.

But I also adapt very easily to new situations, and this year I not only had to work from home, but I also had to take care of my little girl (5 years old) because the kindergartens were closed all year as well, and my wife had to go to work on a daily basis.

So it was not an easy year for me, but I tried to focus only on the positive things: my family is healthy, I have a job that allows me to work from home, I read positive news, talk with my colleagues and friends almost daily, etc.

I also like sports very much, and this year I succeeded in running one day a week (at least 6 km), which is a first for me.

Who are your competitors? And how do you plan to stay in the game?

Adrian Domocos: There are a lot of digital marketing blogs out there, but we try to have a more useful approach on every article or review that we publish on HotinSocialMedia.com.

There are dozens of marketers that give us their perspective and practical tips that we publish on our blog as roundup articles, interviews, top digital tools, etc.

Our contributors are testing different digital marketing, management, design, etc., tools, and we publish detailed reviews as often as we can.

Next year we want to focus on growing our marketing community with more detailed and useful articles, growing our traffic and our social media follower base, and not the least… launching more digital marketing tools.

Your final thoughts?

Adrian Domocos: In these special pandemic times, it is important to be calm, to take more care of your health and your loved ones, to find better solutions for your business, and to have a positive mindset for the times that will come.

Thank you for this interview opportunity, and I hope I brought good vibes and some optimistic ideas to your readers.
