Alexey Chalimov Eastern Peak

We talked to Alexey Chalimov on how Eastern Peak is a digital innovation company, and this is what he had to say about it.

First of all, how are you and your family doing in these COVID-19 times?

Alexey Chalimov: We are doing fine, taking the necessary precautions, and trying our best to be in good health. We are not obsessing about it, just being realistic.

Tell us about you, your career, and how you founded Eastern Peak?

Alexey Chalimov: In 2009, I graduated with an MBA from the University of Pennsylvania, majoring in Finance and Entrepreneurial Management. Looking back, I can say that my career has been involved with technology from the very start. As a CEO at Gett, I was in charge of developing the GetTaxi (Gett) service. Later, I was a founder and advisor at an education and technology company Maximum Education, and a founder and technology evangelist at the mobile testing platform Ubertesters. As a long term technology enthusiast, I have always enjoyed bringing new tech products to the market.

I founded Eastern Peak in 2010 in Israel, aiming to leverage my technological expertise across multiple industries and domains. I went to Ukraine to hire the best and brightest software developers for our company. Our goals required a robust R&D center, so we placed it in a post-Soviet country with a solid tradition of teaching STEM disciplines, a convenient location, and cultural ties with Israel. Our tech expertise and R&D capacities enable us to build solutions quickly and cost-effectively. We also have a solid understanding of our clients’ business goals, allowing us to design solutions tailored to their specific needs.

How does Eastern Peak innovate?

Alexey Chalimov: We are a technology consulting and development company dedicated to helping our clients adapt to fast-changing technological, economic, and regulatory environments. With expertise in IoT, Big Data, AI, AR/VR, and cloud solutions, we can safely claim that innovation is our specialty. In a post-pandemic world, time-to-market is a keynote to success as the first companies to come up with new ideas will have a distinct competitive edge. We work with budding startups, helping new entrepreneurs bring their fresh app ideas to life, test them for user acceptance, and become the first to enter the market with the established solution. We guide our clients through digital transformation by upgrading their legacy systems to adopt emerging technologies. We leverage business process automation and prepare enterprise infrastructures for continuous innovations. We employ top digital transformation professionals and hire best-of-breed experts in engineering.

With Eastern Peak, organizations can enhance their in-house R&D capacities, as we offer them instant access to a pool of 200+ software developers, DevOps, quality assurance engineers, architects, and designers. We are also helping companies build custom software solutions from scratch, using our business consultants and solution architects’ expertise. We help businesses across all industry domains to boost operational efficiency, reduce time-to-market, and gain a competitive edge by improving every business process, worker performance, or revenue model. We are also advocates of full transparency so that the clients can communicate with our experts as effectively as with their in-house teams.

How has the coronavirus pandemic affected your business, and how are you coping?

Alexey Chalimov: In terms of doing business, things are pretty much the same as usual. We have been communicating remotely with managers, developers, and clients and working on projects remotely long before the pandemic. This is not new to us, because we work on a global market with offices in Israel and Europe. We did our best to ensure employee safety in response to the COVID-19 outbreak by encouraging everyone to work from home and making all the resources and equipment available to workers while they work remotely. We also took all the necessary precautions to create a safe environment for employees who chose to stay in the office. We installed two professional, hospital-class air purification and ionization systems in the office to reduce air pathogens and improve air quality. We also doubled our cleaning efforts. And then, of course, we made hand sanitizing stations available on-premises. We have also been helping our clients discover business opportunities during the covid outbreak. Suddenly, companies were forced to give up the tried and true ways of doing business and explore new, previously untapped niches to stay afloat. We helped entrepreneurs who have never considered digitizing their business carry out an online shift, build mobile apps for their services, adopt or develop software solutions for interacting with customers during the particular adaptation to the ‘new normal,’ and come up with a viable response strategy to survive the emergency.

What are the lessons learned, and what would you advise for meeting the corona challenge?

Alexey Chalimov: The key to success is an instant response. Don’t be afraid to try new ideas and approaches. In a time of uncertainty, you can experiment. Trust the experts in their field to help you deal with challenges.

How do you deal with stress and anxiety?

Alexey Chalimov: I wasn’t stressed. There’s no point in stressing over things we cannot change. It’s always best to be open to changes and take advantage of new opportunities.

Who are your competitors? And how do you plan to stay in the game?

Alexey Chalimov: The software development market has always been highly competitive, but this encourages us to maintain high-quality standards. We think out of the box; we have product and project managers from Israel and Europe, a great team of developers, designers, testers, and DevOps, who create the best products in the world. So, I believe we have all it takes to stay on top of the game, despite all the challenges.

Your final Thoughts?

Alexey Chalimov: At Eastern Peak, we specialize in innovation: flexibility, adaptability, and a proactive response have always been a part of our business philosophy and helped us withstand the pandemic without it negatively impacting our operations. As digital transformation speeds up, companies who share similar approaches will have the upper hand. Indeed, this will require businesses across industries to continually keep abreast of new technologies, but at Eastern Peak, we are always ready to help.
