We talked to Amine KARRAY of Innov’ATM about the use of AI to share, plan, forecast, protect and optimize all air traffic operations and here is what he said about it.
First of all, how are you and your family doing in these COVID-19 times?
Amine KARRAY: Fine, thank you.
Tell us about you, your career, how you founded Innov’ATM.
Amine KARRAY: I co-founded the company in 2013 with Stephane Bascobert.
How does Innov’ATM innovate?
Amine KARRAY: Innov’ATM use AI algorithm in two application domains: Aircrat Traffic management and Drone Traffic Management.
How does the coronavirus pandemic affect your business finances?
Amine KARRAY: COVID-19 impacted our business seriously, especially our Aircrat Traffic management business.
Did you have to make difficult choices regarding human resources, and what are the lessons learned?
Amine KARRAY: Yes, HR was a serious topic to manage, especially during the first lockdown. I understand that peoples need, especially during a crisis, to be regularly informed, reassured, and even if it was a completely exceptional crisis, we need to be reactive, to define a rebound strategy ad share it with collaborators to give them visibility on the envisaged way to exit the crises and rebound after.
How did your customer relationship management evolve? Do you use any specific tools to be efficient?
Amine KARRAY: The first step, beginning of 2020, our customers were pushed into panic mode because of the sudden arrival of lockdown. It was very difficult to contact them until April 2020. After that, we revised our business model to adapt it to the crisis, and we succeeded in maintaining some of our contracts.
Did you benefit from any government grants, and did that help keep your business afloat?
Amine KARRAY: Yes completely, we benefit from the PGE grant, and that helped us to maintain our team and continue to invest in our innovation programs.
Your final thoughts?
Amine KARRAY: I think that we can use any crises to create opportunities, I’m sure that the world of tomorrow, after the COVID crisis, will be more open to changes, to innovations and will be more smarter.
