We talked to Amit Mehta of Ace Infoway about keeping “People First” Culture, and he had the following to say:-

Tell us something about yourself, Ace Infoway, and how you started?

Amit Mehta: I started my journey back in 1999 with one room, two computers, and three people. We didn’t know the business at that time; all we knew is that we loved technology and were passionate about making a difference by being part of the new economy.

From that day to today, we are now a company of 250+ aspiring team members with 8 distinct business divisions that cater to different sectors; the journey has been a roller coaster ride with lots of memories and fun.

How have you been managing yourself during the pandemic, and how do you stay proactive/positive?

Amit Mehta: As a leader, it is important to keep calm and be adaptable so that our team doesn’t fall apart. Of course, there will be times when everything seems to be crashing down, but the breaking point is our starting line- to evolve and be a better version of ourselves. We just kept our cool and focussed on the process & efforts that eventually led us to see some good amidst the bad situation.

Remote working had its own challenges during the pandemic, but it was important to remain positive, keep trust in the team, and keep the flock together. We remained proactive and focussed on the important aspects of business, like customer delivery/service, new business acquisition. Hence some of our business division witnessed a good inflow of customer inquiries. We were able to secure new customers and help them achieve their much-required goal of going online during the pandemic.

As a software company, how does Ace Infoway innovate?

Amit Mehta: We started the journey by offering simple website development and came a long way to offer Web Applications, Mobile Application, Ecommerce Development, SaaS products, Cloud Computing, and Complex technology project management.

The technology world has been continuously evolving. For us, innovation is to be adaptable, learn & train the team to implement new trending technologies all the time,  and leverage all this for the benefit of our customers. We ensure that we are always on the front of new technology trends & processes and make sure learning is rewarded within the organization to extend the same innovation to customers.

How do you stay current on what the competition is planning or currently implementing?

Amit Mehta: Well, personally, I think there are two ways to look at this – the entire world is our competition, and no-one is our competition. The reason is you have thousands of companies that provide technology solutions and more or less all follow the trends and demands of the global economy and path that tech giants set. So we concentrate on what type of customer we have to service and simply keep a sharp focus to upgrade, learn, and implement newer technologies, practices, and tools. This cycle keeps on repeating so that our expertise and delivery model becomes such a unique proposition that there may not be any other exact match for us. So we take the Global competition as a driving force to innovate & learn – but all with the focus to benefit our customers.

When it comes to Ace Infoway, what are you most proud of?

Amit Mehta:Amit: The people of course and every time the people! They are the ones who take the organization to newer heights. Our team is our biggest asset. Hence we focus a lot on keeping our internal customers – our people Happy! Our company’s mantra is Fun Learn Earn and Grow – engaging people and having a people-oriented culture is what has always worked in our favor.

I personally spend my maximum time to engage and ensure people’s engagement, which in turn allows them to focus on innovation, risk-taking, raising delivery standards, and eventually ensuring customer delight.

I am personally proud that I am surrounded by some good human beings and amazing professionals that make the company a good place to be!

Tell us about an initiative that forced you to be innovative and creative.

Amit Mehta: So we were already in the Web Design & Software Development space, and then also expanded to establish the eCommerce Retail services division. That is when I landed up thinking about a segment that was a natural extension of eCommerce needs – Starting a Full-Service Email Agency to help all eCommerce aspirants with a variety of their Email marketing needs.

This project forced us to be innovative & creative in all aspects – including pulling out one of the senior colleagues from the established division and make him in charge of the new aspiration. Most importantly, I had insisted that this new initiative has to be a startup within the established company, follow their passion, do whatever they like, give them full freedom and isolation to find their own identity and eventually customers. Today we are proud to have this as one of the fastest-growing segments within the company, and so being creative paid us!

Describe how you created or launched a new product or service that resulted in a new revenue stream during pandemic

Amit Mehta: Pandemic, in its early days, had paralyzed our mind and we were just narrow focussed towards servicing our existing business and customers. It is then that we realized that come what may, we need to continue to think differently, expand our services, and try to reach out to larger audiences. As an established technology services provider, and eCommerce provider, now was the time to start offering Search Marketing services to existing and new customers. Setting up a team of experts, remote working, and customer prospecting led us to start servicing some of the promising customers. A new line and new revenue stream started during this pandemic, and we hope to take this to the next level.

What will be your advice to a startup when it comes to choosing a technology partner?

Amit Mehta: Startups should consider that technology is going to be a differentiator. Technology investment done today will come to rescue your business expansion in a long way. It is important for you to interview the technology partner and make sure they have the necessary experience, maturity, and most importantly, ensure they have a culture and past record of working as a partner rather than just another vendor. A perfect technology partner can be a stakeholder without a stake who will not only support your startup for short term needs but help you with long term strategy, your investments & eventually its ROI.
