Andreas Slettvoll Tells Us How CHOOOSE is Connecting Climate-Conscious Brands with Impactful Climate Action

First of all, how are you and your family doing in these COVID-19 times?
Andreas Slettvoll: Thankfully, my family is healthy and well. We wash our hands, stay at home, and do our best to follow the government’s directions.
Tell us about you, your career, how you founded CHOOOSE.
Andreas Slettvoll: My professional background is actually from big oil, both as Head of Legal in a large oil company and head of the energy department in a Norwegian Law Firm. So you might say that I have a background from “the industrial dark side.” Learning how this part of the industry works from within has been a great asset when I moved over and founded CHOOOSE.
How does CHOOOSE innovate?
Andreas Slettvoll: Here at CHOOOSE, we start our day by asking why it is so hard for companies and modern consumers to make climate-friendly choices. Then we spend the rest of the day working to fix it. Our innovation lies in our integrated technology solutions that are built to eliminate all forms of friction that block people and companies from taking everyday climate action.
How the coronavirus pandemic affects your business, and how are you coping?
Andreas Slettvoll: As a technology provider closely connected to the travel and hospitality industry, the pandemic has naturally affected us. On the “positive” side, it has given us time and opportunities to drive innovation and create new products that I know will create value for our partners when the world opens up again.
Did you have to make difficult choices, and what are the lessons learned?
Andreas Slettvoll: When times get rough, it gives you a chance to get to know the core of the people you are working with. One of my key learnings from the pandemic is that CHOOOSE is a tribe of really great people who are willing to do what it takes for each other and CHOOOSE.
How do you deal with stress and anxiety?
Andreas Slettvoll: To be honest, I’m not a very stressed person. At least, it takes a lot for me to get there – so I can’t say that I have any go-to plan when it comes to stress relief. With three small kids running around – and home office – I think the best stress relief is when they all sleep and you can finally sit down. Guess all parents know that feeling!
Who are your competitors? And how do you plan to stay in the game?
Andreas Slettvoll: Although a few serious players have made their entrance in “our part” of the climate space since CHOOOSE was founded in 2017, I find it hard to look at them as traditional competitors. After all, we are all working towards the same global goal. Our focus is to deliver world-leading climate technology, make sure that the climate projects our technology supports are top quality and reduce as many tones of CO2 emissions as we possibly can together with people and companies worldwide.
Your final thoughts?
Andreas Slettvoll: I would encourage any business, big or small, to get familiar with CHOOOSE all-in-one climate tools to integrate trusted climate compensation anywhere a business interacts with consumers.
