We talked to Ankita Priyam of O GEN Infosystem (P) Ltd about web design and digital marketing and here is what she said about it. 

First of all, how are you and your family doing in these COVID-19 times?   

Ankita Priyam: In India, Pandemic struck a little later than a few other countries, so keeping in mind the safety of our people we took the step of Work From Home before Lockdown announcement was made. Fortunately, none of us, our family members and employees got infected with the virus, and we together managed to keep going.

Tell us about you, your career, how you founded O GEN Infosystem (p) Ltd.

Ankita Priyam: I am a 30 years old entrepreneur from India. I am the co-founder and Managing Director of O GEN Infosystem (P) Ltd that my Husband, Abhijeet & I started back in 2011 when we were in college- 2nd year of B-Tech. Our main objective was to train businesses and people how online presence will help them in the near future. We started by giving workshops in various communities and institutes in Dehradun, India. Then in 2013, we built a team and started our services of website designing, web & App development. In a span of 1 year, we had to shut down our operation due to no experience in business management, I guess, but the dream was still in our heart & Mind. I went to pursue an MBA in International Business, and Abhijeet joined some job for experience and some earning. He solely started operation of OGEN Infosystem in 2015 again adding more services of Digital Marketing including SEO & paid Advertising; and I after completing my Masters, joined a startup to gain real industry experience and finally in 2017, I teamed up with OGEN Infosystem once again to gear up our business. Today we are ranked top on Google as a Website Designing Company in Delhi, India and have been awarded best website designing & digital marketing company several times.

How does O GEN Infosystem (P) Ltd innovate?   

Ankita Priyam: By looking into our services, it feels very obvious like we are like other website designing companies. But our USP is developing a website with our in-built tool which automatically ranks your website on google in all the locations you provide service. Location can be any country, state, city, area, etc. and it takes 1 to 2 month which google takes in crawling. So by this, your website is not just a catalogue, but the lead generation model. How the coronavirus pandemic affects your business, and how are you coping?  

Ankita Priyam: Already stated above, we shifted our operation to Work From Home a week before the lockdown was announced in India. It was difficult for us in the starting as our business depends upon other businesses. At the start we lost a few of our big clients as their job is physical and now they do not want leads, some started to cut-off their expenses and felt SEO and digital marketing can be paused for the time being. But after a month, we started getting new clients, especially for eCommerce stores and Apps. So from the 2nd month of the pandemic, it was pretty much sustainable for us.

Did you have to make difficult choices, and what are the lessons learned?  

Ankita Priyam: Yes, Like many other companies, we also had to take critical steps. We had to short down our workforce depending upon their performance. Learning from this situation was, we must have more than one source of income, so we have started ‘HireWonders.com’ which is a marketplace for freelancers and companies. Also, we are on the urge of launching a few more digital marketing tools and platforms.

What specific tools, software and management skills are helping you navigate the crisis?  

Ankita Priyam: Due to Work From Home, we integrated CRM where employees, clients and management team all can be together in real-time. This helped us track the workflow, and we ended up Managing work operation & project delivery better than before. Today, we are also working WFH, and we have planned to re-open office from April 2021 keeping in mind that until that time, all of us can get the vaccine and it proves to be successful. 

Who are your competitors? And how do you plan to stay in the game?  

Ankita Priyam: We are a Web Designing & Digital Marketing company providing our services worldwide, so we have a lot many competitors. We look into long-term, and so we have focused on SEO more than Paid Marketing. We are proud to be on top ranking on Google, which helps us get plenty of leads.

Your final thoughts? 

Ankita Priyam: We hope 2021 to be a better year, and people in business would realize that they have to invest in websites to take advantage. It’s like you giving birth to a baby and leaving to grow up, or another way round is after the baby is born, you invest in their education, emotions, etc. you know the difference in results in both the cases. The more you involve yourself with the website, the better results it will give you.
