Anton Buchelnikov Apptica

Anton Buchelnikov of Apptica tells us about the full-fledged platform for the market and clients’ competitors analysis.

First of all, how are you and your family doing in these COVID-19 times?

Anton Buchelnikov: We are taking sensible precautions. However, we haven’t changed our normal routine mainly. In summer, we have been on a wonderful trip to the Altai region in Russia. In general, we are visiting all places we want, however, there are still quite enough restrictions.

Tell us about you, your career, how you founded Apptica.

Anton Buchelnikov:  Apptica project was created by my friend Evgeniy Tychenko and me. I have been the CEO of Apptica throughout its existence. Previously, I have been working in a large holding Embria for a few years. And before that, I had worked in spheres far from IT. I reconciled building, architectural, and engineering activities. But let’s return to our days, to Apptica. The company itself belongs to an investor who has funded its development. The initial idea was to create only an “Ad Intelligence” service for the in-app industry that could facilitate the work of advertisers and publishers of mobile apps. However, clients requested more. So nowadays we are doing a full-fledged platform for the market and our clients’ competitors analysis. The process of product development is endless. We can’t allow ourselves to stop it even in this harsh time for business.

How does Apptica innovate?

Anton Buchelnikov: We are doing product development completely on our own. This includes really difficult tasks on data processing and simulation models.

Research of ready-made decisions could save time. However, in our business, we have to create a lot of things from scratch and search for innovative decisions.

How does the coronavirus pandemic affect your business finances?

Anton Buchelnikov: In the matter of business, the coronavirus pandemic affected us significantly. First of all, conferences stopped in a moment all over the world. For us, it has been an important way of attracting clients. Besides, mobile app developing companies start to reduce their budgets on external analytical tools. It happened due to common panic, lack of understanding of how things will unfold and most importantly, how badly people will suffer.

Did you have to make difficult choices regarding human resources, and what are the lessons learned?

Anton Buchelnikov: There were no layoffs in our company related to the pandemic. We are glad that we are providing a stable job to everyone interested in it and copes their own responsibilities.

How did your customer relationship management evolve? Do you use any specific tools to be efficient?

Anton Buchelnikov: In some cases, we had to be flexible and facilitate for our clients to provide them with the necessary tool. Our goal is a successful business. But first of all, we are creating a convenient and useful tool for in-app industry participants. And, of course, we had to switch more to online communication.

Did you benefit from any government grants, and did that help keep your business afloat?

Anton Buchelnikov: We didn’t receive any government grants; we don’t have such experience. For now, it seems it has been more comfortable to work with investors who are close to us in spirit and understand the industry from inside.

Your final thoughts?

Anton Buchelnikov: I would like to wish everyone to stay healthy, evolve and become stronger.
