We talked to Antonio Delgado Rigal, CEO and founder of AleaSoft on how they transform energy market information into knowledge, intelligence, vision and opportunities and here is what he said about it.
First of all, how are you and your family doing in these COVID-19 times?
Antonio Delgado Rigal: Since March the lockdown and confinements began in Spain. We have been getting used to being more at home, working from home and generally avoiding going out on the street if it is not necessary.
Tell us about you, your career, how you founded AleaSoft.
Antonio Delgado Rigal: I did my doctoral thesis at the Polytechnic University of Catalonia (UPC) in Artificial Intelligence. From the work of this doctoral thesis, we created a seed and then in 1999, we started the company. I am the CEO and one of the founders of AleaSoft.
How does AleaSoft innovate?
Antonio Delgado Rigal: We created a new methodology for forecasting in the energy sector. In these 21 years of the company, we have not stopped innovating, that is why we are leaders in Europe in this field.
How does the coronavirus pandemic affect your business finances?
Antonio Delgado Rigal: In our case, the pandemic did not produce any negative effect from the point of view of the company’s finances.
Did you have to make difficult choices regarding human resources, and what are the lessons learned?
Antonio Delgado Rigal: In our company, we have a lot of job stability, and for more than two years, we have remained the same team. The coronavirus has perhaps brought us closer together. It is a very good and very productive team.
How did your customer relationship management evolve? Do you use any specific tools to be efficient?
Antonio Delgado Rigal: The relationship with customers has been strengthened through video calls. For us, working from home has increased efficiency. In one day we can have up to eight remote meetings with clients and potential clients, in addition to those we have with company personnel.
Did you benefit from any government grants, and did that help keep your business afloat?
Antonio Delgado Rigal: We have had no need for government grants.
Your final thoughts?
Antonio Delgado Rigal: The pandemic has accelerated teleworking. In the case of our company that works all over the world, this has led to an increase in efficiency, saving time and money with travel.
