We talked to Antonio Gil, founder of Nattule, about sustainable tourism and this is what he said about it.

First of all, how are you and your family doing in these COVID-19 times?

Antonio Gil: Quite well, it has been a time to renew ourselves and think about the future differently and more positively despite weighing the bad times. You always have to focus on the positive to maintain the right attitude.

Tell us about how you founded Nattule.

Antonio Gil: After a bicycle trip in a nature reserve in 2014, with Alberto Moya, during a break, Alberto and I were speaking about how difficult it was to find activities in nature to hire when we were traveling. That is how with a simple comment enjoying nature all began for us. At the end of 2015 that wasn’t just a comment or an illusion, Nattule was a reality.

How does Nattule innovate?

Antonio Gil: When it comes to innovating we base on our direct needs, whether for employees, clients, or our development team.

How the coronavirus pandemic affects your business and how are you coping?

Antonio Gil: The life of the startup, under normal conditions, is not easy. In most cases, for years you have to survive from overexertion, from parallel investors, luck, many circumstances that are not normal. What I want to say, is that if it´s already difficult, this situation makes us very misplaced.

Did you have to make difficult choices and what are the lessons learned?

Antonio Gil: The situation has led to decisions contrary to wishes. Discharges of personnel, paralyzed improvements, debts with banks, changes of course in the objectives.

As a lesson learned, feel and listen more to people. The rhythm of life before anesthetizes that contact.

What specific tools, software, and management skills are you using to navigate this crisis?

Antonio Gil: Developments for the themes or web, of tourist activity. Variable functionality.

Who are your competitors? And how do you plan to stay in the game?

Antonio Gil: We don`t look outside. Our focus is on our sector, client, collaborator, and company. If you focus on what you have, there is always room for growth or improvement. Why look outside…
