We talked to Ashutosh Parab of Edbrix about online education platform and the effects of COVID-19.
First of all, how are you and your family doing in these COVID-19 times?
Ashutosh Parab: This Covid-19 has played havoc globally, yet at the same time, it has taught us many valuable lessons. It has changed the way things are done, be it business, education, or be it social interaction. We at Edbrix have been quick to adapt to the change and are doing very good. Thanks for asking.
Tell us about you, your career, how you founded Edbrix.
Ashutosh Parab: I started my ambitious career as a young engineer with a specialization in Electronics and Communications and completed many software certifications. I had an opportunity to work with diverse organizations like MATLAB, SPSS, and Oracle gold partners. I headed the Africa operations for Oracle and educational software and have worked internationally for 24 years. To name a few countries: India, Tanzania, Kenya, Malawi, South Africa, United Arab Emirates, and finally now I am here in the USA.
My passion for transforming the Education field and my quest for building a future-centric platform drove me to develop the Edbrix Solution providing necessary security, communication, and collaboration between teachers and students. My efforts have borne fruits, and now I am proud to be the founder!!
How does Edbrix innovate?
Ashutosh Parab: As I said, the Covid-19 has changed the Business, Education, and social interaction; therefore, the administrators and teachers have often wondered how they can effectively transition to synchronous and asynchronous learning while instructing in-class students and students who are studying from home or traveling for sports, etc.
Our innovative portal provides a common platform to conduct the universe of learning activities within a single dashboard; teachers can broadcast live class sessions, upload pre-recorded lectures, publish courses and incorporate reference documents along with communicating with students and parents via live chat/hangout.
How the coronavirus pandemic affects your business, and how are you coping?
Ashutosh Parab: Coronavirus pandemic caused schools to shut across the world. Globally, over 1.2 billion children are out of the classroom. It changed dramatically the way Education is imparted. Teaching is now being undertaken remotely and on digital platforms. The research suggests that online learning increases the retention of information and takes less time. Coronavirus might be here to stay and has created a huge gap/opportunity where Administrators and Teachers are looking for a platform that can transition classrooms into synchronous and asynchronous learning!!
Our business is more suitable and perfect in a pandemic as the social distancing is taken care of. Also, our business has grown up by 200% because we have managed to find a solution for students, teachers, and administrators to teach and learn effectively and efficiently.
Did you have to make difficult choices, and what are the lessons learned?
Ashutosh Parab: Yes, the choices are sometimes difficult to make, but we are always guided by keeping the interests of students, teachers, and administrators foremost in our minds so that efficient learning in the classroom can take place.
How do you deal with stress and anxiety? How do you project yourself and Edbrix in the future?
Ashutosh Parab: We have a positive and fun environment at work. We also meditate and exercise to stay healthy, physically, and mentally. We wish to become a leader in the online teaching platform by the end of the next 10 years!
Who are your competitors? And how do you plan to stay in the game?
Ashutosh Parab: Our competitors are Zoom, Screencastify, Showbiz, Myviewbaord, Vimeo, etc. We have an integrated solution which nobody provides, and the cost of our solution is lower than combined with anybody else’s. We are exclusively designed for education.
Your final thoughts?
Ashutosh Parab: How Educators and students Teach/learn has changed dramatically globally. Unless we ‘Innovate,’ we will perish!!
