Aura Air: The Air Purification Startup

We talked to Aviad Shniderman on how Aura Air is a data-driven air quality platform and this is what he had to say about it.
First of all, how are you and your family doing in these COVID-19 times?
Aviad Shniderman: We are safe. Kindergartens and schools are back in operation, allowing us to get back to work. We try to avoid unnecessary gatherings and meet with the extended family only in the open air.
Tell us about you, your career, how you founded Aura Air?
Aviad Shniderman: I started the company together with my older brother three and a half years ago, after 13 years in which I served in the IDF. As sons of a father who owns an air conditioning installation company, we realized that people are aware of what they eat, their sports habits. Still, the air’s awareness in indoor spaces, which are polluted up to 5 times that of the air outside, does not exist.
How the coronavirus pandemic affects your business, and how are you coping?
Aviad Shniderman: Even before the epidemic, we conducted a pilot experiment in a hospital intending to reduce pollution in the various departments. When the corona started, it was decided to test our filters’ destructive capabilities on the virus. The fantastic results showed a 99.9% destructiveness, thanks to which the demand for our product is skyrocketing. We sell to over 50 countries and many diverse industries.
Did you have to make difficult choices, and what are the lessons learned?
Aviad Shniderman: The main difficulty was an increase in production rate and fast shipping. As a company that has only just started manufacturing in recent months, the production line has jumped from 1,000 products a month to 10,000.
