We talked to B. Subramanyam, the founder, and CEO of Color Moon Technology, about the provision of digital services, and this is what he said about it.
First of all, how are you and your family doing in these COVID-19 times?
B. Subramanyam: Looking on the brighter side, I had an opportunity to spend some quality time with my family initially. However, as the days passed the lockdown extended and that made me crazy, and had to face certain tough times just like many. However, things started getting better.
Tell us about you, your career, and how you founded Color Moon Technologies.
B. Subramanyam: Immediately after my graduation, I dreamt of becoming an entrepreneur. With sheer hard work, I could make that dream come into reality. I’ve started my own office and have become the CEO for the “Colour Moon Technologies” with just two employees recruited in two years and now the count has reached 50 in 12 years. This is surely a feel-good factor for me.
How does Color Moon Technologies innovate?
B. Subramanyam: I admit to having a mindset of combination with creativity and technicality. Having that flair for the development of software and rendering personalized web solutions to accelerate in the business world, my idea of starting a business evolved. With the growing technology, I felt the necessity to help people establish their businesses and make them stand strong with a concrete digital presence. This is how I started my journey and made the best choices in choosing my team to win laurels in the IT industry. The company has seen fruitful results since the time of its inception.
How does the coronavirus pandemic affect your business finances?
B. Subramanyam: The first month was surely a tough time for us. We were in the downhill. We realized that there could be no sources that can be physically available to meet our necessities. As time faded, the online market took off due to the high demand of supplying essential goods only through online services. Since we are in the development of online markets, people have realized the importance of starting their online businesses. This is like a boon, and we utilized the opportunities in a better way to sustain and to develop as well.
Did you have to make difficult choices regarding human resources and what are the lessons learned?
B. Subramanyam: We dint drive out any employees during COVID-19. We empathized with the situation and tried to put every employee of ours in a safe and protected zone. However, when there was a rise in demand, we even hired new employees to fulfill the requirements of our clients. Keeping COVID-19 precautions in mind, we allowed our employees to work from home and that way rendering our software services to our customers.
How did your customer relationship management evolve? Do you use any specific tools to be efficient?
B. Subramanyam: As we are a technology-oriented company, we have stable and strong Customer Relationship Management. Having said this, we build valued relations with our customer community and make the work easy for both of us. We perform our duties according to our set of principles and duties that are framed by our company legally.
Did you benefit from any government grants, and did that help keep your business afloat?
B. Subramanyam: We haven’t received any aid from the Government officially. However, we could meet our necessities by rotation of revenue in our business cycle. Sometimes, the CEO had to invest from his account to run the company without facing challenges.
Your final thoughts?
B. Subramanyam: Though good or bad, humanity had to continue its race no matter what the challenge is. However, it’s nice to know people had started realizing the significance of starting various online businesses. As said above, this phase has benefitted the IT sector where people started integrating their business online. I feel it as a good revolution that took less time to understand its potential.
