INNOVATORS VS COVID 19
The Age of Remote Work & Transforming Your Business Online

We talked to Baljot Saral on how Web Sharx develops creative web designs, logos, graphics, and internet marketing services to transform brands and this is what he had to say about it.
First of all, how are you and your family doing in these COVID-19 times?
Baljot Saral: Thank you for asking. We are staying healthy and safe and, just like the broader part of the population, are limiting contact as much as we can and working remotely. Our region is still under lockdown, but we are trying to see the light at the end of the tunnel.
Tell us about you, your career, how you founded Web Sharx?
Baljot Saral: I am the Founder of Web Sharx; I started this business over a decade ago, surprisingly. I’ve always been into the latest technology and finding solutions to computer problems. One day, I was approached by my uncle, who operates a TV repair business, on building him a simple website. I was able to pull it off (although not the most outstanding design at the time), and that was how I started to get into digital agency work and developed websites to start. I also have a background in Marketing, specifically in Brand & Digital Marketing. This has helped me navigate the balance between Technical & Business skills that a digital agency requires.
How does Web Sharx innovate?
Baljot Saral: We innovate in many ways – most importantly, we innovate by growing our knowledge capital. Our team is the heart of our business. We look at evolving our team’s skills, and as we grow, adding on newer members to the team to bring unique and diverse skills to add to our knowledge capital, collectively producing the most outstanding value to our clients. Furthermore, we utilize the most effective tools, such as Adobe XD (sharing website design prototypes in a more creative fashion rather than a standalone PDF). Lastly, we’re open to change and are agile to working flexibly, remotely, and getting work done for our clients.
How the coronavirus pandemic affects your business, and how are you coping?
Baljot Saral: The pandemic affects our business in two ways, our client and team connections are all online versus in-person. As many would say, in-person communication is vital and affects relationship building. However, we are doing our best to use tools like Zoom, Slack, Google Meet, and more to collaborate with clients and our team members. We are coping well as our team works remote most of the time, so it wasn’t a huge difference. Nonetheless, we are doing our best to bring value to our clients effectively and transform businesses online. Being in the digital space, starting in March, many businesses started to make the switch that did not consider online at the time. We are more than happy to bring affordable digital solutions for businesses in many industries across Canada and the US, with website development, graphic design, and digital marketing services.
Did you have to make difficult choices, and what are the lessons learned?
Baljot Saral: Difficult choices would include holding all client meetings remotely. In many cases, in-person discussions are much clearer for communication. However, we learned through tools such as Zoom, online prototyping, and providing clients easy to use forms for answers and comments; we collaborated effectively.
How do you deal with stress and anxiety, how do you project yourself and Web Sharx in the future?
Baljot Saral: I deal with stress and anxiety in a few ways. First includes weight/fitness training, we had a home gym for a few years (fortunate in hindsight), and I was able to take advantage of this throughout the year and build this into my daily routine. Next, I find time to use the Calm app and relax my mind before a busy workday. Our company is finding ways to stay flexible during this pandemic and deliver solutions to our clients on-time, and we will continue to do so in the future.
Who are your competitors? And how do you plan to stay in the game?
Baljot Saral: Our competitors consist of other digital agencies. We’re in a competitive space, but we do our best to stand-out in many ways. What’s called the Zero Moment of Truth, when customers find you online before contacting you, we do our best to show up best in all touchpoints.
Your final thoughts?
Baljot Saral: We are very grateful to stay in business during times of uncertainty. We are ever so grateful to also deliver solutions for other businesses to stay afloat during the year. This includes e-commerce website solutions, search engine marketing and advertising, social media marketing, and more. We’re here to help businesses online to bring them the highest awareness, reach, and conversion to grow business through uncertainty.
