Baskar Agneeswaran Tells Us How Vajro Increased its Revenue Multi-fold during the Pandemic

First of all, how are you and your family doing in these COVID-19 times?
Baskar Agneeswaran: Thank you for asking, and I’m doing great! My family is also doing great…
Tell us about you, your career, how you founded Vajro.
Baskar Agneeswaran: I’m a CPA by qualification and have been an entrepreneur for over 15 years. Prior to Vajro, we failed in our prior venture “Prizap” (which was basically a price comparison app). We learnt a lot from failure and also understood our strengths and weakness. Critically, we gained a lot of experience in the eCommerce space and understood the market gap that a Mobile App Builder like Vajro can actually fill!
Vajro is basically a no-code Mobile App Development Platform (MADP). We are currently aligned to Shopify, and we help Shopify stores to get their own iOS and Android apps without needing to write a single line of code.
How does your Vajro innovate?
Baskar Agneeswaran: Vajro’s pillars of the foundation is its ability to innovate. We have built a completely no-code platform for building mobile apps and enable eCommerce stores to go live with their mobile apps in a matter of few days…
How the coronavirus pandemic affects your business, and how are you coping?
Baskar Agneeswaran: During Feb-Mar of this year, we realized that the E-Commerce industry would actually be a beneficiary during this pandemic and made some seemingly counter-intuitive moves – we doubled our team size anticipating huge volumes and started putting in a lot of effort on sales and marketing. This has resulted in us quadrupling our revenues during the pandemic!
How we quadrupled our revenues can be understood by going through the following:

Who are your competitors? And how do you plan to stay in the game?
Baskar Agneeswaran: Major competitors are currently Tapcart and Shopney. We don’t believe in the winner takes all concept. I think there is enough room for all major players in the space to be very successful.
Your final thoughts?
Baskar Agneeswaran: Follow your instinct. When an extraordinary situation like this pandemic happens, take a step back, and analyze. Some businesses will be impacted positively and some negatively. Find out where your business stands and see how you can convert the situation into an opportunity.
