We talked to Benjamin Federmann on how Doks automates and scales intralogistics processes and this is what he had to say.

First of all, how are you and your family doing in these COVID-19 times? 

Benjamin Federmann: We are doing good so far. Lockdown and kids at home are a bit special, but now we are in the winter holidays and try to make everything as normal as possible.

Tell us about you, your career, how you founded Doks?

Benjamin Federmann: Before my time at doks, I worked in various management positions in marketing, sales, and product management for twelve years. We founded the company doks at the beginning of 2017 and started operations at the beginning of 2018.

How does Doks innovate? 

Benjamin Federmann: The challenges of our customers in logistics include data management around inventory and inventory management. With our robotics and software, we help digitize and automate data acquisition and processing processes. In our solution portfolio, we offer, among other things, drones, sensors, and autonomous ground vehicles that collect the data. Our machine learning experts have developed algorithms that automatically analyze this data and forward the relevant information to our customers’ systems.

How the coronavirus pandemic affects your business, and how are you coping?

Benjamin Federmann: Corona presented logistics with the challenge of accelerating the digitization of many processes. The subject of personnel is now viewed even more critically. In this respect, we have benefited from Covid-19 on the one hand, and innovation budgets have been frozen, and spending stopped on the other. This had an impact on our sales success.

Did you have to make difficult choices, and what are the lessons learned?

Benjamin Federmann: Last year, we had to adjust the product strategy and redefine our sales channels. This was associated with challenges.

How do you deal with stress and anxiety?

Benjamin Federmann: Stressful situations push me, and I become more concentrated and focused.

Who are your competitors? And how do you plan to stay in the game?

Benjamin Federmann: D-ARIA, EyeSee, PINC, wear, Gather AI, Verity, and Flytbase. We see more than enough space for more than just one company on our market.
