First of all, how are you and your family doing in these COVID-19 times?
Christian Greis: After having all negative corona swabs, we are happy to celebrate Christmas together.
Tell us about you, your career, how you founded Derma2go.
Christian Greis: I am a dermatologist at the University Hospital of Zurich and the founder of the telemedicine startup derma2go. I founded the company in 2018 with my co-founder, Vahid, an IT-specialist. Together we have almost 30 years of experience in the IT and dermatology fields.
How does Derma2go innovate?
Christian Greis: Derma2go offers patients the opportunity to get a medical consultation online by an outstanding expert in the field of dermatology. Patients do not have to wait up to 3 months anymore to see a dermatologist in person and get the right treatment within hours by one of our experts.
How the coronavirus pandemic affects your business, and how are you coping?
Christian Greis: Covid pushes digitization in general – especially the ehealth sector benefits from the current situation. We experienced 250-300% increased traffic within the last two waves of the corona.
Did you have to make difficult choices, and what are the lessons learned?
Christian Greis: Focus, focus, focus.
How do you deal with stress and anxiety?
Christian Greis: Sports & days-off (not necessarily on Christmas.
Who are your competitors? And how do you plan to stay in the game?
Christian Greis: There are different online consultation services in the market for general medicine and focused on dermatology. We sell our service as we offer high-quality expertise in the subdisciplines of dermatology with outstanding opinion leaders in that field. With this centralized teledermatology, we reach very high patient satisfaction.
Your final thoughts?
Christian Greis: Corona shows us the trend of digitization. Even though we expect some decreases after the pandemic, we expect the current time to be a proof of concept for the mid-term future.
