Ari Manor CureFacts

First of all, how are you and your Family doing in these COVID-19 Times?

Ari Manor: We’re all fine so far. However, it is tougher for my mother, an 85 years old eye doctor who was still practicing medicine till it all started, and had to quit due to the pandemic, and is isolated at her home for months now.

Tell us about you, your Career, how you founded CureFacts

Ari Manor: I am the Founder of CureFacts, and before that, I ran a business consultancy firm working with big clients (e.g., Google, eBay, HP, etc.) on strategy, marketing, and innovation. The idea to create CureFacts came into my mind when I was looking for medical treatments for my children, and although I have an M.Sc. degree in Human Genetics and strong scientific background, I could NOT find good and reliable answers. After hours of reading confusing and contradicting information online, I have realized that probably many other people face the same problem and that something must be done about it.

I started investigating the subject and found out that the biggest demand for online information is related to medical treatments, with 25 billion Google searches per year. And since online information is unreliable and mostly biased, in half of the cases, people choose ineffective or damaging treatments. This leads to the biggest waste on earth (5% of the world economy, 4 Trillion dollars wasted on direct healthcare costs). In addition, wrong medical decisions kill 2.5 million people every year.

So I gathered a very talented team, and we created CureFacts – the first-ever Evidence-Based-Medicine platform, connecting established science, patients’ preferences and doctors’ experience. We clear the noises and provide the most reliable and strictly unbiased answers for anyone who wants to choose more effective and safer medical treatments. We have created CureFacts because we believe everybody should be entitled to take good care of themselves and their dear ones.

How does CureFacts innovate?

Ari Manor: Personally, I have 25 years of innovation management experience, and worked with over 500 companies on strategic innovation and product innovation. At CureFacts, I use my experience and various thinking tools to improve our offering. Besides, we try to innovate in ways that support our core differentiation: unmatched reliability and accessibility. In this respect, for example, we do not advertise medical treatments and do not profit from treatments, which keeps us neutral and unbiased. We also use market surveys and build everything from scratch and in a consumer focused orientation.

This is why, for example, we are probably the only site that compares ALL types of treatment from ALL treatment categories (from surgeries and prescription drugs all the way to herbs and alternative treatments…) in a head-to-head comparison, just like you compare refrigerators or cars. We do this because we found out that consumers want effective treatments and care less about how regulators categorize various treatments. We break the rules in many other respects; it is a part of our culture to be disruptive to the benefit of the consumers.

How the Coronavirus Pandemic affects your Business, and how are you coping?

Ari Manor: At CureFacts’ website, we provide information about treatments to coronavirus infections (most coronavirus strains cause common cold). Therefore, with the COVID-19 pandemic arrival, the traffic to our website increased 30 fold overnight. Many other factors worked in our favor (e.g., the trust issue became more critical, telemedicine and online pharmacy became more common, and the eHealth sector has more funding nowadays). So we currently enjoy a pretty strong back wind, and many irreversible attitudes and behavior changes support our growth.

Did you have to make Difficult Choices, and what are the Lessons Learned?

Ari Manor: Actually, we haven’t. We just had to work harder, to seize this window of opportunity. Nevertheless, since we are an impact startup, it is vital for us to help the community handle the pandemic wisely. Therefore we are involved in clarifying facts and sharing current scientific knowledge about managing and treating COVID-19. There are so many rumors, fake news, and intended biases related to Covid-19 – and we try to be a source for more reliable information. It is not easy, since the science and the data about Covid-19 is still very young and non-established, whereas we, at CureFacts, usually make only VERY established science available to our visitors.

How do you deal with Stress and Anxiety? How do you project yourself and CureFacts in the Future?

Ari Manor: Luckily, we do not feel stress and anxiety at our startup. However, many others do. So we are now developing answers for them, and are planning to add information on all treatments for these medical conditions.

Who are your Competitors? And how do you plan to stay in the Game?

Ari Manor: In a recent independent review done by European scientists, CureFacts was named one of the 4 trustworthy online healthcare resources to the public. Reliability is our edge.

And while there are big competitors out there (for example, Healthline, WebMD, and Drugs.com), none of them sticks to established science, and most profit from medical treatments and are biased.

Your Final Thoughts

Ari Manor: Our slogan is “Take Good Care”. And this is exactly what we advise you all. Take responsibility for your life and the life of your dear ones. Choose wisely. Do your homework, and take ONLY good care. This will enable you to live longer and enjoy a better quality of life while saving the costs of ineffective and damaging medical treatments.
