Dr. Harindar Keer of FlixStock tells us how they assist businesses to create very high-quality images at a fraction of the current cost and effortlessly.
First of all, how are you and your family doing in these COVID-19 times?
Dr. Harindar Keer: The pandemic has definitely been a challenging time for everyone. There was a point where all my family members and I had tested positive. However, we overcame the difficulties and took a very outward approach to them. We started connecting people with medical facilities, served food, and tried to help as many people as we could.
Tell us about you, your career, and how you founded FlixStock Pte Ltd.
Dr. Harindar Keer: I believe I have always been a problem solver. I love chasing hard problems, not soft problems. While I was pursuing my BS in Chemical Science from IIT Kanpur, I found my interest in developing drugs using AI. So, I went on to chase this interest and completed my Ph.D. in Computational Biophysics from the University of California. Suddenly, things took a turn, and I had to come back to India due to family problems. So, I started finding new problems.
At that time, the E-Commerce sector was booming in India. So, I thought, why not pursue E-Commerce. But, it was then that I discovered how much pain and effort it takes to sell products online. Photoshoots, models, makeup artists, and whatnot. It seemed like I had found my new problem, and founding FlixStock was my solution to it.
How does FlixStock innovate?
Dr. Harindar Keer: As I mentioned earlier, I like to take on hard problems, not soft problems. Problems that take a few years to resolve. FlixStock too works with the same ideology; innovation is the core. FlixStock not just works to create solutions but also to help and improve the internal matrix. In the end, how many people or businesses are able to benefit from us is what matters.
Future plans for FlixStock?
Dr. Harindar Keer: FlixStock is already working with the 30 top retailers around the world. The idea is to expand the footprint and get other businesses on board. Overall, the idea still revolves around improving the internal matrix.
What milestones have you achieved?
Dr. Harindar Keer: People prefer to work with MNC’s. Before founding FlixStock, I thought, why not create a home-grown company with the characteristics of an MNC. And that’s what I have achieved. I’ve created an international footprint with a blend of traditional culture.
Who are your biggest competitors, and how do you differentiate yourself from them?
Dr. Harindar Keer: Looklet stands to be one of our biggest competitors. However, I believe it’s my traditional thinking and approach that sets FlixStock apart from its competitors.
How has the coronavirus pandemic affected your business, and how are you coping?
Dr. Harindar Keer: The pandemic did have an impact on the business. Everyone suddenly had to work from home; there was a lot to communicate and manage. Still, I took it as an opportunity to grow and create more solutions.
What specific tools, software or services, and management skills are you using to navigate this crisis?
Dr. Harindar Keer: It’s mostly communication and workflow tools.

Dr. Harindar Keer: I would say digitization is the key. Some businesses are ready to adapt, and some not. But, they should start preparing themselves. Consumers today are looking for more value, and it’s E-Commerce that can truly provide that.
