First of all, how are you and your family doing in these COVID-19 times?
Dvir Ben Aroya : It’s a strange time but we’re doing fine. I am focused on keeping the team at Spike safe while we continue to create an amazing product.
How does your company innovate?
Dvir Ben Aroya : Spike’s software began with a focus on re-imaging the email. We rebuilt the way that email works by skinning away the bloat and turning it into a simple chat conversation. Spike is created around the idea that the tools we use should help teams and individuals keep their focus and improve their efficiency, and not the other way around.
We saw an increase in demand for Spike since it’s the prefect tool for remote working (it’s the only tool we use and are very aware of its benefits, and we are seeing many more people catch on).
We were able to launch Spike’s collaborative tools during this time so we are fortunate to have been able to adjust to this difficult time smoothly.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xXaGQQF44i0&feature=youtu.be
Did you have to make difficult choices and what are the lessons learned?
Dvir Ben Aroya : Sure. We had to be a bit flexible with the timing of our launch due to the unprecedented situation.
It was important to me and my brilliant partner Erez Pilosof, Spike’s cofounder and CTO (see photo), that we accommodate our team during this time. I think like most companies with employees who are parents, we all had to adjust to working from home while also caring for our kids. We learned to be more flexible and we developed a new working routine. We heavily relied on all of Spike’s resources and even developed and released a free video conferencing solution during this time, where we held our team meetings. Each team manages their own Note and Tasks to keep track of their projects. Our team is spread over the word ad across different time zones, so being able to collaborate in real time and also asynchronously is incredibly accommodating.
How do you deal with stress and anxiety, how do you project yourself and your company in the future ?
Dvir Ben Aroya : Personally, I go wave surfing. I can’t think of anything more relaxing than the ocean.
Spike is reshaping the productivity and collaboration vertical. We are introducing people to not only a new way to communicate, but simplifying and unifying workflows. Spike is going to be synonymous with getting work done 🙂
Who are your competitors? And how do you plan to stay in the game?
Dvir Ben Aroya : We don’t have any direct competitors as no one has really taken all the important tools you need, like team chat, to do lists, tasks, docs and calls and brought them into one place. Slack does team chat brilliantly, but it’s still a closed silo, and requires you to still manage your inbox. Notion also is great at what it does – but it doesn’t solve the chat or communication aspect. There are also many other great project management tools and task managers. But all of these still leave you managing a variety of apps, which is a headache. Spike is the first and only company that has really rethought the way that email works, made it easier to use, more manageable and enjoyable, and also layers on important apps and streamlined it into one sleek and very powerful Inbox.
You can try Spike for free on any device and use your existing email.
