Fancyber: Providing a Seamless and Safer Social Media Experience

Earl Bitco, founder of Fancyber on how they give everyone a safe and secure way to communicate to the world.
First of all, how are you and your family doing in these COVID-19 times?
Earl Bitco: Last year, one of my relatives got the COVID-19 virus then. Right now, they are now okay as well as I am, and nothing bad happened to any of us. Since several lockdowns are still implementing, my family member stays inside the house, entertaining themselves online and playing games in the backyard.
Tell us about you, your career, and how you founded Fancyber.
Earl Bitco: I’m a 22-year-old Filipino. I’ve been working with developing web sites since I was thirteen years old. I started to build Fancyber with my colleague and other people who join me in 2016. It was not yet a fully functional social media platform until one of my team told me that this platform has the potential to become huge someday into the market. I’m responsible for maintaining the platform for designing and keeping it safe.
How does Fancyber innovate?
Earl Bitco: Fancyber’s approach to innovation involves implementing new changes; innovation strategy is to make a world that is more connected and open off course, without affecting our users’ privacy, we offer non-targeting ads versus other platforms which using their user data to target ads.The strategy of our team is to monitor and check those existing functions that need to be improved, for example, there are many incidents of breach of big technology companies, instead of adding more feature, we’ve seriously provided more on security so that the people who use our service are confidentially trusting us so they can feel in safe hands. We are also improving our website look as possible, and we still strive for other innovations.
How does the coronavirus pandemic affect your business finances?
Earl Bitco: Actually, our finances slightly plummet since we are still working on our platform. The number of transactions on sales, reduced, and the workforce moves. But today our finance recovered since the huge decline last year.
Did you benefit from any government grants, and did that help keep your business afloat?
Earl Bitco: No, we don’t benefit from any government grants, stimulus, or business loans since the pandemic started.
