We spoke with one of the founders Georgi Kurotskin about his edtech startup and about the company’s ambitious plans for the future.

First of all, how are you and your family doing in these hard times?

We’re doing fine, thank you! Of course, since the pandemic the world has changed a lot with people beginning to move online, and since our main project is the software development company BlueGlass, then, of course, this brought more virtual interactions to our field. If, for example, two years ago we had 2 face to face meetings each day, it’s now much less 🙂

Tell us a little bit about Pinpaya?

Sure! Pinpaya was originally created in Africa, namely in Kenya. We discovered that the Kenyan  market had a number of built in challenges which we hadn’t been able to predict. This ended up being our mistake as we were not prepared for some specific challenges on this continent and were forced to shift the project’s focus from Africa to Europe and the UK.

Basically, Pinpaya is an online education platform that connects students and tutors for 1-on-1 online lessons.

What motivated you to create the Pinpaya platform?

Learning will be in demand at all times. We are living in a very competitive time, where everything changes very quickly and you need to make decisions quickly and adapt to new realities – this can be done through learning.

The main motivator for us is to help people grow by learning online from the comfort of your own home and to help talented people find jobs.

What markets are you currently operating in?

Since we are at the beginning of our journey and our platform still has minor bugs, we are focused on the UK and Estonian markets for now. We plan to enter Spanish-speaking markets in the near future.

Who are your competitors? And how do you plan to stay in the game?

Some of our competitors are Preply, iTalki, etc.

We want to find our niches. We’ve tried to make our product easier to use and incorporate features that our competitors do not have. Our focus is on automation and innovation.

How does Pinpaya innovate?

In addition to the fact that our platform is already almost fully operational and many students and private tutors are completing lessons on it, we want to go further and apply new WEB3 technologies. We want to create our own token and use the blockchain to create a cashback program for all tutors and students.

What are the benefits of using a blockchain cashback program?

Crypto tokens are a type of cryptocurrency that represents an asset or specific use and reside on their own blockchain. Tokens can be used for investment purposes, to store value, or to make purchases.

In our case, this is an opportunity to use features and benefits on our platform and also withdraw tokens to your crypto wallet.

Do you plan to attract investors?

Oh sure! We are working on this right now, looking for a quick boost to help capture other markets, as well as implement our new technologies, so we want to find a financial injection. At this first stage, our plan is to find an investment of 500 000 USD. Thus far, we have been working exclusively with our in-office team in Tallinn to develop our platform.
