First of all, how are you and your family doing in these COVID-19 times? 

Eric Edelstein: Adjusting. 

Tell us about you, your career, how you founded DOKKA.

Eric Edelstein: I’ve been in hi-tech and startups for most of my life. I love the passion, energy, and ideas. 

How does DOKKA innovate? 

Eric Edelstein: DOKKA is constantly developing new features in our products and platforms for everyone in the accounting space, from bookkeepers to accountants to auditors, to save time, increase productivity, and increase compliance. 

How the coronavirus pandemic affects your business, and how are you coping?

Eric Edelstein: The pandemic has been very challenging for many businesses. But there are certain businesses which have thrived over this period. DOKKA is one of them. We were already in a growth phase before Covid. Because we develop cloud-based bookkeeping and accounting software products, there has been a massive adoption of our products due to accounting and bookkeeping practices needing to alter the way their businesses function. We’ve had a successful year.

Did you have to make difficult choices, and what are the lessons learned?

Eric Edelstein: In Hi-tech and startups, there are difficult choices to make on a daily basis. We’ve learned to logically and rationally think through the options and make the best decisions with the available information. But to not be scared to go through the exercise shortly after again if circumstances or information changes. 

How do you deal with stress and anxiety? How do you project yourself and DOKKA in the future?

Eric Edelstein: I have a game of blitz chess. Or play guitar loudly. Or lift some heavyweights! And after a few minutes, I’m really to calmly deal with the world once again. 

Who are your competitors? And how do you plan to stay in the game?

Eric Edelstein:  Every company has many competitors. It’s just a question of whether you know about them or not. And also if you care about them or not. We have happy customers and an innovative product – that’s all that currently matters to us.
