Gabriel Tupula: BIG BANG

Gabriel Tupula, CEO at Big Bang tells us about digital transformation in business.

First of all, how are you and your family doing in these COVID-19 times?

Gabriel Tupula: COVID-what? The truth is, we don’t even talk about it and do our best to avoid talking about it with our customers. We use terms like “new reality” or “flexible workplace” to talk about the situation without mentioning COVID.

Tell us about you, your career, and how you founded Big Bang.

Gabriel Tupula: Big Bang was founded with the mindset of modernizing the consulting approach for digital transformation.

How does Big Bang innovate?

Gabriel Tupula: We innovate through our approach. We work with best-of-breed cloud solutions in any market, industry, and most company sizes. This means it’s a larger investment for us in marketing and training, but it brings the best digital transformation and mix of cloud solutions for our customers. Feel free to take information from this (Forbes) article written by Gabriel, and for more information on the company here.

How the coronavirus pandemic affects your business, and how are you coping?

Gabriel Tupula: We were fortunate enough to have a delivery model adapted for the virtual workplace because of what we offer – cloud solutions that enable a global workforce. We were able to work with many customers surfing the wave, looking to digitize to remain operational and competitive.

Did you have to make difficult choices, and what are the lessons learned?

Gabriel Tupula: The real difficulty in the pandemic was to continue operations as normal. We had to decide to invest and not cut spending, jobs, or anything else. We turned the experience into a team-building exercise, mobilizing the team to participate in the business plan. One thing that was difficult and outside our control was the stress everyone was experiencing. It was tough to keep people inspired.

What specific tools, software, and management skills are you using to navigate this crisis?

Gabriel Tupula: Check our website. We use what we sell. Having all our systems being cloud-based and integrated was extremely valuable in transitioning our workforce from flexible to remote.

Who are your competitors? And how do you plan to stay in the game?

Gabriel Tupula: We didn’t have time to pay too much attention to the competition. We were investing all our energy into jumping on the opportunities that came up and supporting our customers through the challenging period.

Your final thoughts?

Gabriel Tupula: Let’s stop using that word (COVID). The business environment changed forever. Let’s move on and forward.
