Gaelle Haag: I founded StarTalers 2 years ago with the mission to become Women’s BFF – best financial friend after a career in strategy consulting and wealth management.
How does StarTalers innovate?
Gaelle Haag: We make personalized, sustainable investment management accessible to everyone – especially underserved segment with a strong need to take ownership of their financial future: women.
How the coronavirus pandemic affects your business, and how are you coping?
Gaelle Haag: Slows down regulatory approval and make fundraising a bit more complicated, but we’re coping so far.
Did you have to make difficult choices, and what are the lessons learned?
Gaelle Haag: I had to let go of a new hire at the beginning of the lock-down – firing someone in these circumstances was extremely hard and a very difficult decision, but it was necessary.
How do you deal with stress and anxiety?
Gaelle Haag: Meditation helps a lot to take distance and realize the impermanence of everything, even this current situation. This, too, shall pass.
Who are your competitors? And how do you plan to stay in the game?
Gaelle Haag: Banks and other investing platforms. We focus on the needs and barriers that our niche segment has to overcome every day.
