We talked to Gegham Azatyan of Dexatel about cloud communications during the pandemic, and he had the following to say:-
First of all, how are you and your family doing in these COVID-19 times?
Gegham Azatyan: We are well and dealing with this one day at a time, like everyone else. The circumstances are unusual, of course, but the important thing to remember is that now, more than ever, we must set aside our emotions and give it all and do our best to overcome this situation. In unity, we stand, and in unity, we will get through this. Nothing is permanent, so we make the most of it every day.
Tell us about you, your career, how you founded Dexatel.
Gegham Azatyan: I’ve been in the telecommunications industry for over 13 years. Having started as a Sales manager with much success, I realized that I wanted to have my own company, and so, I established Dexatel in 2014. Since then, we’ve had huge success, and now our client portfolio consists of over 800 clients and operators, including 300 major ones. Our list of celebrity operators includes names such as Google, Viber, Deutsche Telekom, China Telecom, Vodafone, T-Mobile, Orange Spain, Orange Poland, CenturyLink, Cellcom, and SAP.
How does Dexatel innovate?
Gegham Azatyan: The most important factor is to stay up to date with market trends and innovations. We don’t have a one-size-fits-all policy, which helps us stay ahead in the game and create new products and features that are personalized and customizable to any business and area.
We’ve been in the Cloud communications industry for over six years, and we have vast experience in omnichannel solutions. Recently having launched our new platform, we help businesses, regardless of their size and industry, deliver their messages to the end-users directly.
Actually, we launched our new platform during the lockdown, so we have no obstacles or challenges that would get in our way. How the coronavirus pandemic affects your business, and how are you coping?
Gegham Azatyan: Actually, we were ready to work remotely since the technicality of our work, and the industry allows us to, all we need is a laptop and an internet connection. However, the reason for the global isolation brought many challenges with it, especially in the beginning, when all of this was new: it took some time to overcome the new situation. Coping is always difficult, especially when it’s global, and everyone is affected by it. But we bounced back up very quickly.
Thanks to motivation, hard work, virtual team buildings, and support, we get through anything.
Did you have to make difficult choices, and what are the lessons learned?
Gegham Azatyan: Of course, making difficult choices is not only a part of everyone’s lives, and especially of the leader. It’s always a challenge, as each decision I make can and will affect hundreds if not thousands of people. You always analyze and try to make the best of what you have. I think the key factor is to understand that no matter what, you need to “accept the new normal,” regardless of how bad or unwelcoming it may be. Emotions won’t get us anywhere, so we need to make the most of what is in front of us.
How do you deal with stress and anxiety, how do you project yourself and Dexatel in the future?
Gegham Azatyan: We should keep ongoing; there is no turning back, and we have to move forward. But if you think about it, would you want to let this situation get in the way of your goals? Definitely not. There is so much to do; innovations to discover and create, possibilities to help make our lives better are endless. When you think about it, the anxiety and stress just go away, and you focus on the goal in front of you.
The future for me is a bright one. My forecast is to continue moving forward, motivating the team, and with each employee working at a 120 percent efficiency, I welcome the future.
Who are your competitors? And how do you plan to stay in the game?
Gegham Azatyan: Competition is not only important but also a must. We have worthwhile competitors, and that’s fuel to striving, innovating, and exceeding expectations. New features and new products create a ripple effect for everyone in the industry. We learn from each other, we are happy for each other, and that’s perhaps why the business & industry thrive.
Your final thoughts?
Gegham Azatyan: Firstly, I want to wish everyone and our Mother Planet lots of health, prosperity, and abundance. It’s important to remember that we are all in this together, and together, we will get through this. A healthy state of mind and body is key to our success and prosperity.
Take care of one another, be healthy and safe. This a stepping stone of improvement for us, a kind of a milestone. Considering what history has taught us, the pandemics actually, the Plague, the Spanish flu all brought a rebirth of sorts for mankind and our planet. Yes, the situation is unpleasant, but it’s always beneficial to look and concentrate on the positive, move forward, and conquer the obstacles. There is no excuse, just action!
