German P. Martizano Jr of LOADR Technologies creates a solution to help drivers keep up with the industry’s digital transformation

First of all, how are you and your family doing in these COVID-19 times?

German P. Martizano Jr: As for my family and I, and just like most people perhaps – we are also giving our best to live a normal life amidst this environment called New Normal. It’s really difficult, but we’re striving not to be dysfunctional. We always try to look at the brighter and positive side of things amidst this challenging situation.

Tell us about you, your career, how you joined LOADR Technologies.

German P. Martizano Jr: I just joined LOADR Technologies, Inc. almost a year before the break-out of the COVID-19 Pandemic. Coming from a transport management role in a multi-national FMCG, I am very much aware of the vast, real-life challenges in the logistics and transportation industry. This New Normal necessitated the advancement of digital transformation, which turned out to be an opportunity for technology companies like us. So, despite the risks, we continued facing the challenges knowing that we can be a catalyst in helping provide solutions for Supply Chain and Logistic Companies.

How does LOADR Technologies innovate?

German P. Martizano Jr: Since Logistics Operations is considered as one of the key segments in the industry where digitization is regarded as paramount, we conceptualized and put up an offsite Transport Control Tower where companies can outsource their transport management operation with full online visibility. We also provided applications to enable Digital Fleet Management for haulers so they can be connected with their shippers, manage their trucks, drivers, and cash flow in a digital online system. The LOADR Last Mile App was also a breakthrough in the transportation industry. It serves as a solution for drivers who need to keep up with the industry’s digital transformation and likewise makes them highly efficient, safe, and compliant with the necessities of this new normal.

How does the coronavirus pandemic affect your business finances?

German P. Martizano Jr: Perhaps similarly with most organizations, we are financially challenged. Tightening our belts, carefully looking at cost-effective and efficient means to run the business, prudently managing our operations to provide what is best for our people and clients.

Did you have to make difficult choices regarding human resources, and what are the lessons learned?

German P. Martizano Jr: Yes, we have had to step up in managing our core people and forgo our hiring plans. I believe this experience taught us to be decisive and prudent in managing our manpower resources, helping, and working with everyone closely to survive and pull thru without letting go of anyone. While people may understand cost-cutting amidst the crisis, the reality is they would still need to survive. So with an entrepreneurial mindset, we became innovative as well on how our organization can be self-sustaining.

How did your customer relationship management evolve? Do you use any specific tools to be efficient?

German P. Martizano Jr: We were able to continue our customer and client engagements through virtual meetings. We capitalized on digital messaging, webinars, and online coordination. As a tech company, we have since been exposed to these things. The situation, however, leads us to more frequent, if not, the default use of online collaboration tools.

Did you benefit from any government grants, and did that help keep your business afloat?

German P. Martizano Jr: We have received no aid/grant from the government apart from those it has extended to individual/local residents (“Ayuda” program).

Your final thoughts?

German P. Martizano Jr: We can turn problems into opportunities. The Pandemic forced everyone to level up towards digital transformation. As a Technology Solutions company, we recognize that we have a big role to play in order for our industry and economy to recover fast. The moving forward, anticipative, strategic plan for every business is key as this will lead to its survival and eventual success. Choosing the right tools for the business is Key. It’s like preparing to go to war and after all the planning, strategies, and tactics, gearing up with the right ammunition is a must. It’s time to embrace the tools for the new normal because the old normal has passed its time. We need to adapt and thrive with the changing times in order for our businesses to remain not only competitive but relevant.
