We talked to Harut Keshishyan, CTO, and co-founder of Rendline, about jewelry rendering services and this is what he said about it.
First of all, how are you and your family doing in these COVID-19 times?
Harut Keshishyan: Firstly, I would like to thank you for giving us an opportunity to participate in this interview, I believe it is going to be interesting for all the readers. This period of time was undoubtedly very hard and draining for all of us, but I guess we are already on the path of overcoming it, or maybe due to getting used to such conditions we have learned how to cope with the current situation and try to move forward.
Tell us about you, your career, and how you founded Rendline.
Harut Keshishyan: As mentioned above, my name is Harut and I am the co-founder of Rendline, which is an online jewelry rendering service for making high-quality jewelry rendered images and videos. My working career began some 9 years ago when I started working for a local company as a rendering master and had a chance to study all the problems existing in the industry. Based on my own experience I found that the issues that were very widespread among the users of rendering services were mainly connected with the price, speed, and quality. In order to solve these problems, I could see only one way out. Together with my friend, who is a software engineer and has a lot of experience in that field, we decided to automate this complex process of making high-quality renders, and as a result, founded Rendline.
How does Rendline innovate?
Harut Keshishyan: Nowadays there are a lot of jewelry rendering companies that offer high-quality services, however, the main difference between Rendline and these companies is that Rendline is completely automated and unlike them, it does not use any human resources to carry out the rendering process. All jewelry rendering companies create rendered images and videos manually, so they spend a lot of time on the working process, plus they need to have professional specialists and powerful equipment to achieve good quality. Moreover, being automated and not using human resources, Rendline can help online jewelry stores to save up to 70% on rendering costs. Another precious advantage of Rendline’s innovation that is worth mentioning is that due to the automation it is able to provide its clients with the fastest rendering service in any part of the world. Besides, the service guarantees information security, as all the renderings and 3D files are saved on servers and after automatically being sent to the client, the whole information is permanently deleted. Due to Rendline, now jewelry rendering is available 24/7, and the technical support works all day long to give decent online assistance to Rendline’s customers.
Most importantly, I would like to say that this is not the stage at which we are going to stop. One of the main goals of our team is to always try to go with the times, constantly evolve as successful work always requires new ideas and innovation.
How does the coronavirus pandemic affect your business finances?
Harut Keshishyan: To tell the truth, we got a really serious blow from the coronavirus pandemic. The team went through very hard times and the company suffered from the situation a lot. In the very beginning, when the virus just burst, the majority of clients were afraid of undertaking any new steps and were waiting to see how the circumstances would develop. There was a time, when the whole team had to work from home, and the market became very passive. However, little by little a lot of businesses got used to the existing situation and started to adapt their working style to the COVID-19 conditions, which as a result lead to the revival of the market. We had a huge financial decrease at first, but now we are slowly getting up and can see a very bright ray of hope and motivation to move forward and rock.
Did you have to make difficult choices regarding human resources and what are the lessons learned?
Harut Keshishyan: Regarding the human resources, we were lucky enough not to have to make any drastic changes in our team. As we were working from home, we managed to cut down on our costs and preserve the whole team, of which we are very proud.
How did your customer relationship management evolve? Do you use any specific tools to be efficient?
Harut Keshishyan: I think we have a unique sphere and the approach that we use should also be unusual. We have our own style of communication, which is based not only on interaction on business matters but also on personal ones. We have a number of clients from different parts of the world who as a result have become good friends of ours. We highly appreciate these relationships and do our best to establish the most pleasant cooperation and communication between the client and team representative. We always remember that our client’s success is the top priority for us, we are permanently in contact with them and always wish to receive some feedback, which helps us to continually improve and perfect our services.
Did you benefit from any government grants, and did that help keep your business afloat?
Harut Keshishyan: Rendline as a company has benefited from government grants three times. The first two times were provided as support to all the companies to overcome difficulties with salary payments. In the third case, a competition was announced among the companies who were planning to launch new products to decrease the consequences of the coronavirus. Rendline took an active part in the competition and was announced to be one of the winners. Currently, we are in the process of collecting all the necessary documents and must mention that we are really very thankful to the government for their support, which will definitely help the company to evolve at a more rapid pace.

Harut Keshishyan: To sum up, I would like to say that COVID-19 has definitely had a negative impact on every sphere of life, however, I am convinced that even under such unusual conditions each of us is obliged to make every effort to improve the current situation and take advantage of having the chance to change the world for the better.
