How does Supportiv Innovate?

Helena Plater-Zyberk: We provide a vital service for those who can’t afford to or don’t want to go to therapy. That’s why Supportiv was created and it has gained recognition for its innovative social and cultural impact (SXSW 2019).

When Supportiv users are matched into topic-specific peer groups, they find an instant micro-community where everyone understands each other and what they are struggling with; thus, no one feels lost in the crowd. These groups have a maximum of 7 people, 100% anonymous, available 24/7, and require no signup.

Chats are kept troll-free by moderators trained on our proprietary peer support curriculum.

We’ve also taken the initiative to help with health plans. Large employers are also prioritizing mental well-being as a clear factor in physical well-being and productivity.

How the Coronavirus Pandemic affects your Business and how are you Coping?

Helena Plater-Zyberk: Supportiv has seen over 340% growth since the beginning of the pandemic. It reflect what you might imagine: more people are reaching out for and receiving mental health support right now than ever. Expanding our moderator base and providing free service to hundreds of thousands of frontline workers during this time has been a challenge. However, we’ve successfully scaled up, and grateful to be in a position to help.

How do you deal with Stress and Anxiety? How do you Project yourself and Supportiv in the Future?

Helena Plater-Zyberk: Stress about the company’s future is about rapidly scaling to meet ballooning demand, and ensuring everyone who needs support gets it at a high quality. We’re excited to leverage our growth to provide even more value to customers, such as expanded self-help resources and more features for feeling heard, understood, and supported.

Who are your Competitors? And how do you plan to Stay in the Game?

Helena Plater-Zyberk: The concept of peer support is not new, and many organizations are providing it one-on-one and face-to-face. We’ve leveraged AI-driven natural language processing to provide peer support online, and in small groups, coupled with actionable self-help resource recommendations, and the human touch of a trained moderator.

Empathy, understanding, resourcefulness, and unconventional thinking drive both our operations, and our growth. Despite rapid expansion, you’ll find us in the future upholding our mission as a team whose core focus will always remain boosting our users’ mental and emotional wellbeing.
