Henrique Calandra, Wall Jobs

Henrique Calandra founder of WallJobs tells us about online hiring platforms.

First of all, how are you and your family doing in these COVID-19 times?

Henrique Calandra: Everyone is doing well.

Tell us about you, your career, and how you founded WallJobs.

Henrique Calandra: I Founded WallJobs when I was in my senior year in college, having problems in searching for an internship and a trainee job opportunity and I created an MVP of an interactive job platform for my college (ESPM). After some weeks, students from other colleges in Brazil started to ask to join the platform.

How does WallJobs innovate?

Henrique Calandra: In Brazil, we have 1.5 m interns, and the companies need to follow a lot of bureaucracies to hire an intern:

– Create an internship contract between Student, College, and Company, always following the Internship Labor law and the College internal Process

– Buy insurance for the intern

– Need to send some evaluations of the intern to the college

And all of these red tapes used to be done on paper and WallJobs Platform helps the companies to do these processes electronically without papers.

How does the coronavirus pandemic affect your business finances?

Henrique Calandra: We’ve grown 40% in the pandemic

Did you have to make difficult choices regarding human resources and what are the lessons learned?

Henrique Calandra: We didn’t let employees go, but managing them in the home office is very hard.

How did your customer relationship management evolve? Do you use any specific tools to be efficient?

Henrique Calandra: Our relationship with our customers improved, because Before the pandemic we had some problems educating our customers in digital culture, the pandemic accelerated this process helping to share our culture. We use Pipedrive, Zendesk, and Partenero.

Did you benefit from any government grants, and did that help keep your business afloat?

Henrique Calandra: No
