The Home of Entrepreneur and Author Interviews
We talked to Herby Fabius of Billion Success on how to help promote businesses and books so others can easily learn from the journey and this is what he had to say.
First of all, how are you and your family doing in these COVID-19 times?
Herby Fabius: Just like everybody else we are taking it one day at a time. Gladly, everyone is doing well. Family and friends are doing the best they can to stay positive and remain to stay in contact. We took many things for granted, but hopefully, now everyone understands how quickly things can get out of hand. We live in a very fragile world. We need to treat it as such as we advance.
Tell us about you, your career, how you founded Billion Success.
Herby Fabius: A while ago, I wanted to learn how to run an online business, and I did not the where to start. I was eager to learn, and I had a lot of questions. I did what every new online entrepreneur does, I started researching online, but I was not getting the answers that I needed, so I started emailing people I liked, and ask them questions. The first person I contacted was Anita Campbell, the founder of Small Business Trends. She made me realize that it was possible.
She was the first person I interviewed, and I realized other people might have those same question I had, so I decided to publish my answer on the site that I created.
I also co-founded a tech company called Triplefy while still running my leading site, but things didn’t work out. I am here because talking to you right now because of all the things I did not work. But at least now, things are looking a little better.
How does Billion Success innovate?
Herby Fabius: My main business is the Billion Success interview platform for entrepreneurs and business authors. We just completed a full rebuild of the website. The old, outdated layout we had was not getting the job done. But before we made any changes, we contacted our most trusted source of advisors, our readers. We asked them through surveys what we should do to make the site better. They responded, and we innovated.
It is the absolute best way to innovate anything if you ask me. Take the end user’s feedback, and then, you start creating it. It was essential for us to do something that they liked. User experience is probably the most important, especially if you are in the online world.
We wanted our site to do what we created it for exactly. We wanted it to be straight to the point, and, we wanted readers to have a unique experience when they visited the site. In the end, I think it was all worth it because so far, we have heard nothing but compliments.
How the coronavirus pandemic affects your business, and how are you coping?
Herby Fabius: We didn’t have to change much. We have VA (virtual assistant) who helps us manage the site and publish interviews, and that didn’t change because they work online. We assign the work, and they get it done. I think it affected us more on a personal level much more than it did on a business level. We are doing ok. We’re coping just fine, I mean, as long as everyone is safe and healthy, everything else will work itself out.
Did you have to make difficult choices, and what are the lessons learned?
Herby Fabius: We had to adjust a few things, mostly with scheduling and family, but other than that since we’re an online business, there wasn’t much for us that changed. I was still able to do my meetings online and keep my site running smoothly.
The lesson learned from all of this is pretty much to be ready at all time. As we’ve learned, things can get crazy pretty fast. From now on growing this business, I will always keep in mind what happened in 2020. So, I will be as flexible as possible when it comes to working from home and hiring VA virtual assistant instead of someone who needs to be in an office environment to work physically. Everyone must adapt to working from home. It is the new normal.
How do you deal with stress and anxiety, how do you project yourself and Billion Success in the future?
Herby Fabius: I think everyone deals with some stress nowadays. With everything going on, it’s hard not to get stressed out. But luckily for me, I am reasonably good at staying stress-free. I find if you only focus on the things that matter, you will be less stress. Because most of the things we’re stressing about are things, we can’t control.
So, when felling stressful, I ask myself if there anything I can do to stop the problem if the answer is yes, I do it and move on, but if the answer is no, then I have no choice but accept it and move on. No need to stress about something I cannot fix.
Right, and in the future, our only plan is SEO and growing traffic to the site. We plan on building traffic by monitoring what works and replicate it daily. It is all about repetition. We multiply what works and step away what don’t.
Who are your competitors? And how do you plan to stay in the game?
Herby Fabius: I pay much attention to what they do. Plus, I don’t see them as competitors because if they’re on the same mission as we are, I think that’s awesome. The more entrepreneurs are doing great work, the better.
Having the same type of business or even the same idea means nothing. It all comes down to execution. Everyone is different when it comes to executing ideas. And in business, execution is the differentiator. It is what decides who makes it to the top and who doesn’t.
So, to stay in the game, this time around, I am executing every goal I have set for my business.
Plus, there is enough for everybody. We can all win. There is no need to worry about competition.
Your final thoughts?
Herby Fabius: Do something. Start a blog, write a book, start a podcast, start an online business, start a YouTube channel, become an influencer on Instagram, it doesn’t matter what it is, do something.
No, you will not make millions from it, most of us ever do, but you will learn a lot from it. And that learning experience you’ll gain is priceless. It is what you’re going to use to make money.
You use your experiences to teach others. You can create a course, write books, or even do live webinars. Your experience is a money maker.
