We talked to Igor Stjepanovic of Gruntify about the productivity and workforce management software, and he had the following to say:-

First of all, how are you and your family doing in these COVID-19 times?

Igor Stjepanovic: Thanks for asking, we are all doing well, hope you and your readers are as well!

Tell us about you, your career, how you founded Gruntify.

Igor Stjepanovic: Gruntify emerged from an innovation competition in Australia back in 2015, with the aim to solve a single problem for a single customer. However, from there, the platform blossomed and eventually emerged into the productivity and workforce management software that has broad appeal and global market potential.

How does Gruntify innovate?

Igor Stjepanovic: Our team closely follows the practices in SCRUM and AGILE methodologies. Our mature, established and proven internal processes enable us to rapidly conceptualize, prototype and produce innovative features in our platform. We combine geospatial, AR and real-time messaging technologies to help our clients deliver the right information, to the right person, at the right location and at the right time.

The end result is a platform that can be mobilized for even most complex projects in the field, at a fraction of the cost, time and effort typically required by our well-known competitors such as Microsoft Dynamics, ServiceNow or Salesforce.

How does the coronavirus pandemic affect your business finances?

Igor Stjepanovic: During early 2020 we have taken a small hit. However, since then, we have turned the fortunes around. Not only did we make a full recovery, but we are also firmly on track to finish the current financial year with a 25% higher revenue compared to the last financial year.

Did you have to make difficult choices regarding human resources, and what are the lessons learned?

Igor Stjepanovic: Luckily, we have been spared from having to make difficult decisions in terms of HR or work arrangements. But like most businesses, we are very cautious with our finances and watch closely how we spend every dollar. We have also learned how to work from home, and meet with our clients via Teams or Zoom video chats, thus cutting back on daily commutes and travel costs.

How did your customer relationship management evolve? Do you use any specific tools to be efficient?

Igor Stjepanovic: We have been playing with HubSpot for a while, albeit, we only use the limited capability of the platform that we require to monitor our leads pipeline.

Did you benefit from any government grants, and did that help keep your business afloat?

Igor Stjepanovic: During covid19, we did not receive any Government grants; however, our business was previously successful with relatively small grants from State and Federal Governments in Australia (where we are headquartered).

Your final thoughts?

Igor Stjepanovic: Covid19 has created a tectonic shift in how the business is conducted around the globe. The businesses need to be able to change fast, or they will suffer a lot of pain, and eventually, they will die.

As Charles Darwin famously said: “It is not the strongest of the species that survives, nor the most intelligent; it is the one most adaptable to change.”. In the case of Covid, the ‘species’ is ‘business’.
