We talked to Irwin Gomes of FazerOrçamento.com about the easiest way to create, send and approve quotes and this is what he said about it.

First of all, how are you and your family doing in these COVID-19 times?

Irwin Gomes: Thanks for the question. My family and I are doing well in this pandemic moment. Despite the great change, we managed to face this moment with mutual support.

Tell us about you, your career, how you founded FazerOrçamento.com.

Irwin Gomes: I am an ordinary boy from the outskirts of São Paulo. Since I was little, I was curious to create things and to know how everything worked.

At the beginning of my adolescence, I was able to study a technical course for an industrial maintenance electrician for two years in São Paulo. In that same period, I worked in the industry and decided to go to college in Industrial Automation.

During the transition to join college, I started my electrical installation and home automation company. In addition, I produced content for thousands of professionals who had a career like mine.

And after connecting with these professionals, I noticed that most of them have problems to be able to sell their services and organize the company. And I know the size of this pain because I experienced it at the beginning of my journey.

So to help this professional, and because we believe that no one deserves to fail due to limited resources or knowledge, we created FazerOrcamento.com (which means “make a budget” in Portuguese).

At FazerOrcamento.com, the freelancer has the resources to send personalized professional proposals, receipts, calculate the price of the service, in addition to studying in the training area.

So they have more confidence and control in their business.

How does FazerOrçamento.com innovate?

Irwin Gomes: The innovation is connected with the reality of this autonomous professional and helping in all of your business processes. This with the use of easy-to-adhere technology.

How does the coronavirus pandemic affect your business, and how are you coping?

Irwin Gomes: For our users to be successful, it is important that they send as many proposals to their customers as possible. Therefore, in the beginning, we had a sudden drop in the use of the platform because the professionals stopped visiting and attending locally. However, in a second moment, people found themselves in need of renovating some places in their own homes, and this reheated the market for our users, who started creating more budgets.

Did you have to make difficult choices, and what are the lessons learned?

Irwin Gomes: A difficult decision was to eliminate a function from the system that we had worked on a lot, but the user did not see the value. Our learning has been to adopt deeper research processes so that the next developments are more certain.

How do you deal with stress and anxiety, how do you project yourself and FazerOrçamento.com in the future?

Irwin Gomes: Sometimes, stress is difficult to avoid, and we feel that stress on the skin. We understand that clearly organizing our tasks helps us work better (this reduces stress) and sees our evolution and future (reducing anxiety).

In fact, recent research has shown that Brazil has the largest population with stress/anxiety in the world. We believe that this is a reflection of inequality in the country. The inequality that many freelancers face.

And with that, our vision of the future is that every Brazilian freelancer should remember FazerOrcamento.com when they need to budget, as they know they find the best solution to value their own work and grow.

Who are your competitors? And how do you plan to stay in the game?

Irwin Gomes: We know that there are apps available in the main stores that compete directly with us. However, another strong competitor is Google Docs or Microsoft Office itself, which has been an option for creating these budgets.

We will stay in the game by decreasing the learning curve and adopting our technology, in addition to creating resources and content aimed at our professional.

Your final thoughts?

Irwin Gomes: We are happy with the contribution we have made so far for self-employed professionals, even in the midst of the pandemic.

Our journey is only at the beginning, but we know that we are cooperating with professionals who were hitherto unassisted. It is an honor for us to help them.
