First of all, how are you and your family doing in these COVID-19 times?

Iryna Kucheriavaya: We are healthy and fine, thanks. My family is not an exception. As for many other families, COVID-19 is the time to review family values, allocate your resources between family and distant work, and get along with relatives 24/7 during the lockdown.

Tell us about you, your career, how you founded MaIra Consult?

Iryna Kucheriavaya: The idea of owning a business came to me in 2011 when I, with my partner Marina, worked in another legal company. We realized that we want to make a company with our own attitude to work and our vision of providing services to the client.

For us, the most important thing is to provide high qualified assistance to the client, not one- time service. The best result of our work is the recommendations of our company by our clients. It is always a pleasure to hear that we have a “special atmosphere” in our office, tasty coffee, polite and smiling staff.

Since 2012, our corporate priorities and values have not changed; we are only trying to be better.

How does MaIra Consult innovate?

Iryna Kucheriavaya: We are an international legal company and deal with foreign partners from worldwide. So, negotiations and conferences online communication via messengers are not new for us. We always follow the latest legislation changes, global trends and try to apply them in practice. Since we value confidentiality, we try to ensure it in all areas of our business activity.

How the coronavirus pandemic affects your business, and how are you coping?

Iryna Kucheriavaya: Of course, COVID-19 changed our internal work. We make everything to ensure the safety and wellbeing of MaIra Consult staff and clients. We even changed our workspace to keep the social distance. Most meetings are held online. There are a lot of delays in order execution. We agreed with the client increase in terms of service provision and tried to find alternative variants to speed up the process.

Did you have to make difficult choices, and what are the lessons learned?

Iryna Kucheriavaya: Yes, in some cases, we had to refuse the client and return payments for our services due to the impossibility to fulfill the order on time. Also, we have limited the list of our services. The main lesson that we have learned is that we cannot rely only on those solutions that you have. We always need to look for new services that we can offer to our clients, to develop our company in new directions.

How do you deal with stress and anxiety?

Iryna Kucheriavaya: Everyone has their own approach to dealing with stress. Today, the best advice is not to watch a lot of news and not to panic.

The main thing is a positive attitude to life and belief in the best. I think the best ways to relieve stress are long walks in the forest, watching favorite movies, cooking tasty food, and spending time with family.

Who are your competitors? And how do you plan to stay in the game?

Iryna Kucheriavaya: There are a lot of competitors in our field – companies that were established much earlier than our company. We try to find our own individual approach to each client and provide boutique legal services.

Also, we promote the website of MaIra Consult by ourselves and always work on new business decisions. We believe that our efforts and love for what we do will help us stay in the game.

Your final thoughts?

Iryna Kucheriavaya: The pandemic made changes in the life of every person on our Planet. We have heard about previous global pandemics only from historical movies and books. We have never faced before with the closing of borders, inability to meet and hug our parents. Human values are changing.

Everyone thinks about health at first, healthy food, breathing exercises, and other physical activity. Now, we are trying to live by new rules, keeping social distance, and taking care of people at risk. Take care of your mental health and believe in the best.
