First of all, how are you and your Family doing in these COVID-19 Times?

Jamie Wilson: All is good. After a stressful few months, it has been fun to travel a little and spend time with family.

Tell us about you, your Career, how you founded Hometouch

Jamie Wilson: I’m a Doctor by training and specialized in dementia. I started Hometouch 5 years ago to offer a tech-enabled live-in care model as an alternative to care homes.

How does Hometouch innovate?

Jamie Wilson: We offer a digital home care service – where all elements of a traditional brick and mortar industry are improved by technology – everything from back-office functions to monitoring care delivery. This means the care is more affordable, and carers receive better pay.

How the Coronavirus Pandemic affects your Business, and how are you coping?

Jamie Wilson: Initially, we saw a big drop in demand from hospital referrals. It was also harder for onboard carers. We had to make many operational changes to make our service “COVID secure” to protect our elderly clients. However, in the end, it looks like demand has swung to our model of care because of negative sentiment towards care homes resulting from COVID-19.

Did you have to make Difficult Choices, and what are the Lessons Learned?

Jamie Wilson: The key is to show leadership and direction in times of uncertainty.

How do you deal with Stress and Anxiety? How do you project yourself and Hometouch in the Future?

Jamie Wilson: Spend lots of times outdoors, with family, regular exercise, and healthy food.

Who are your Competitors? And how do you plan to stay in the Game?

Jamie Wilson: Our competitors are mainly care homes – there are 10,000 in the UK. We offer something genuinely better – allowing clients to stay in their homes for longer around family, familiar surroundings, and pets.
