Jatin Singh Rawat SolutionsHead

We talked to Jatin Singh Rawat of SolutionsHead about its one-stop solution and COVID-19.

First of all, how are you and your family doing in these COVID-19 times?

Jatin Singh Rawat: We all are doing well in this tough time and taking all the precautions to avoid contact with coronavirus.

Tell us about you, your career, how you founded SolutionsHead.

Jatin Singh Rawat: I am a Graduate in Electronics Instrumentation & Control Engineering. I started my career as a Sales Engineer with Toshniwal Industries Pvt. Ltd. I sold industrial automation solutions and products to manufacturing, cement, power, and process plants across India. It was a great learning time there, and I traveled a lot and met new people in the industry. I visited plants and learnt the process and the technologies involved in the whole process. This gave me confidence. I experienced that there is a huge opportunity in automation and industrial instruments. I founded this company in 2018.

How does SolutionsHead innovate?

Jatin Singh Rawat: During my tenure with my first company, I saw the gap between demand and supply of quality instruments, maintenance, and innovation. We tied up with few best companies across the globe and provided a one-stop solution to the customers with local support in India. This gave us leverage as compared to other solutions providers. Our customers are happy because they don’t have to spend a lot of time finding the supplier and support separately. We are delivering the products and taking care of everything, including installation, maintenance, and support.

How the coronavirus pandemic affects your business, and how are you coping?

Jatin Singh Rawat: Coronavirus pandemic affected each and every business in the world. However, we took this challenge as an opportunity and added new products to our portfolio. Contactless Digital Thermometer, automatic sanitizer dispenser, automatic sanitizer tunnel, etc., were part of that list. We saw a huge demand for these products across all the industries and supplied them. It helped us maintain our revenue generation.

Did you have to make difficult choices, and what are the lessons learned?

Jatin Singh Rawat: Definitely, we had to make difficult choices during the pandemic. We learnt the most important lesson that your business model should be pandemic ready. One should have more products and offerings, and they need to adopt a new approach according to the situation.

How do you deal with stress and anxiety?

Jatin Singh Rawat: I take a break from work whenever I feel stressed and anxious. I give some time to meditation, yoga, music, watching movies on Netflix, and try to detach from the world. This helps me get out of that situation quickly.

Who are your competitors? And how do you plan to stay in the game?

Jatin Singh Rawat: There are many big players in the game. They include Siemens, Rockwell Automation, Hyundai, Honeywell, etc. We are just a bootstrap startup and growing at our own speed. We are getting big projects from Indian Railways, Big cement companies, Power Plants as well as small and mid-size industries. We have a long term vision to become the top automation company in the next 5 years. To achieve this, we are adding new people to the team, adding new products to the portfolio, adding new partners, and participating in every large bid.

Your final thoughts?

Jatin Singh Rawat: COVID-19 has affected the businesses and economies across the world. Many people lost their jobs. Everyone is unsure about their future. A lot of panic and negativity is in the air. I personally think that one should not worry about the situation. Instead of panicking, they should adapt to the new normal and think positively. This situation is not permanent. This, too, shall pass. This is the best time to innovate, invest in yourself, and add new skills to your resume. Startups should work in the right direction to make humans’ lives easier. There is a huge opportunity in EdTech, Fintech, Marketing, E-commerce, Automation, Robotics, AI, etc. We should accept the challenge and deliver the best. All the best!
