Javier A. Arrospide Advanced Systems International

We talked to Javier A. Arrospide, CEO of Advanced Systems International, about USB Control & Lockdown Software to Block USB Devices and Lock USB Ports in Windows Systems and here is what he said about it.

First of all, how are you and your family doing in these COVID-19 times?

Javier A. Arrospide: We’re doing fine, thank you. We consider ourselves lucky as many are suffering from the COVID-19 pandemic. Both the disease itself and the preventive restrictions affect many people’s lives.

Tell us about you, your career, how you founded Advanced Systems International.

Javier A. Arrospide: I founded Advanced Systems International in 2004 to follow my dream of making the best software to protect organizations’ data and systems. By those times, the USB interface was new, and Windows XP was the latest Operating system. I thought that computers’ new Plug & Play capability and portable storage were good because they allowed transferring files from one computer to another quickly.  Nevertheless, the same presented a serious security risk as organizations’ data assets could be taken off-premises in tiny devices.

So I created USB-Lock-RP, and for the last 16 years, Advanced systems International is dedicated to its further development and license. (over 1000 organizations worldwide use the software)

How does Advanced Systems International innovate?

Javier A. Arrospide: USB-Lock-RP is the only Centrally-managed USB Control software to do automatic whitelisting across the network. The software is powerful at blocking unauthorized devices and makes authorizing devices (whitelisting) an effortless task to Administrators. Another characteristic that can’t be found in other solutions is that all USB-Lock-RP functions apply in real-time. Other solutions deploy a policy that sometimes is not effective after client computers restart or take time to be effective. How does the coronavirus pandemic affect your business finances?

Javier A. Arrospide: Sure, it affected some financially, but I have to say it also positively impacted the company’s development area. Social life always brings distraction, especially from tasks such as programming software. Programming requires immersing in a virtual world, and physical reality can become a distraction.

Did you have to make difficult choices regarding human resources, and what are the lessons learned?

Javier A. Arrospide: Well, Advanced Systems International is a robust small company; all programming is done in-house. I’m the author of the software and its leading developer; employees in areas other than development have been able to continue to work from home.

How did your customer relationship management evolve? Do you use any specific tools to be efficient?

Javier A. Arrospide: We are a technically oriented company and keep an excellent relationship with customers at that level.

Did you benefit from any government grants, and did that help keep your business afloat?

Javier A. Arrospide: Not yet, thankfully. We are ok because our software is licensed worldwide, so we are less prone to be affected.

Your final thoughts?

Javier A. Arrospide: COVID.-19 is a virus, but it can mean three things:

1) The original DNA instruction. (mutated from a sick animal cell or lab-made)

2) The human cell affected by the virus DNA instruction

3) The clones of the DNA instruction. (multiplied by an affected human cell)

It is essential that, as humans, we understand and mitigate the impact of Covid-19 or any other virus.
