How Jens Hallek And Hamilton Medical Team Are Revolutionizing Critical Care Ventilation
How does Hamilton Medical innovate?
Jens Hallek : It’s this constant innovation that has been the cornerstone of our success for many years. We live for ventilation technology. Technology that helps caregivers improve the lives of their critically ill patients. We believe that innovation is essential to meet the demands of critical care.
To us, innovation is about realizing visionary new ideas, and continuously improving existing products, always keeping patient safety and ease of use in focus. We learn from our customers and from multi-disciplinary experts. And we invest in long-term research and development.
How the coronavirus pandemic affects your business and how are you coping?
Jens Hallek : Since the start of the year and the outbreak in China, we have massively increased our capacity for producing ventilators. Production has continued through the weekends and we have added a second shift to ensure the highest possible output of ventilators in a short space of time. We also added a new production site in the US to meet the demands of the US market.
Did you have to make difficult choices and what are the lessons learned?
Jens Hallek : The most difficult choices were where to deliver the ventilators to first. Within a few weeks,m we have received hundreds of orders and even more requests. It is more than we can currently provide. We try to serve those countries first that currently suffer the most.
We are constantly re-assessing the situation and adapt as we see fit. The process is ongoing. What lessons we have learned is a question for after the pandemic has ended.
How do you project Hamilton Medical in the future ?
Jens Hallek : Currently the future of the mechanical ventilation market is harder to predict than ever before. We have a team working on possible scenarios and strategies for the time after COVID-19. One thing is for sure, we live for ventilation technology and that will not change.
Who are your competitors? And how do you plan to stay in the game?
Jens Hallek : Our main competitors are Dräger and Getinge. As stated before, we have a team working on possible scenarios and strategies for the time after COVID-19.
