Pandemically Positioned for Success: Susosu Water

We talked to Jheen Oh of Susosu Water about health benefits of natural mineral water.
First of all, how are you and your family doing in these COVID-19 times?
Jheen Oh: The Family and I are doing well! We are keeping up with the news and making sure we are following all protocol and social distancing.
Tell us about you, your career, how you founded Susosu Water.
Jheen Oh: As a child, I was rigorously taught the importance of having good health and prioritizing our wellbeing. My parents, especially my dad, loved discovering and learning about new health regimens and products. He would often travel throughout Asia and come back with new herbal and holistic medicine he had discovered while traveling. Back in 2018, we started Susosu Water for one purpose, and that’s to share the message and awareness of preventative care through our healthy product.
How does Susosu Water innovate?
Jheen Oh: Susosu Water innovates by adding more molecular hydrogen to our all-natural mineral water which provides consumers with additional health benefits that regular water cannot do.
How the coronavirus pandemic affects your business, and how are you coping?
Jheen Oh: Surprisingly, it has affected our business in a very positive way. Ever since 2018, we have really been focused on creating online sales channels and really built the business to accelerate through the digital path. Because the pandemic happened, a lot of consumers have shifted their shopping habits online, and we have been taking full advantage of that and invested a lot more time and budget into digital campaigns and channels.
Did you have to make difficult choices, and what are the lessons learned?
Jheen Oh: We did not have to make any difficult choices, but we were very hesitant about the route we wanted our company to take as it didn’t really seem like the norm in the food & beverage industry. As cliche as this sounds, the biggest lesson learned is always to think ahead. Don’t make business decisions based on the present but make executive decisions that will benefit your business in the long run. It’s a marathon, not a sprint.
How do you deal with stress and anxiety, how do you project yourself and Susosu Water in the future?
Jheen Oh: I like to hang out with my good friends and family to really take my mind off the business but also get inspiration/ideas from them as well. Although I may be relaxing, I’m always in go mode. I project our company to continue to scale our revenue through unique digital campaigns and continue our dominance online. I project our brand to be one of the BIG players in the water industry and project ourselves to compete with the elite brands in our space.
Who are your competitors? And how do you plan to stay in the game?
Jheen Oh: We have a few competitors in the hydrogen water market, but we want to compare our brand to bigger companies in the functional water industry. We plan to stay in the game by expanding our online distribution and continue to provide high-quality water to new/returning consumers.
