Jimmy Braimah of Goodtalent Corporation tells us how the HRTech company helps organizations solve their people’s challenges using innovative products. 

First of all, how are you and your family doing in these COVID-19 times?

Jimmy Braimah: We have been blessed. My family and the Goodtalent team are doing well. The team and I have been very busy with developing our products as we have a tight deadline for launch. Since Covid-19 started, we use Google Meet a lot and can jump on a call at any time.

Tell us about you, your career, how you founded Goodtalent Corporation.

Jimmy Braimah: I have been a recruitment consultant for more than 16 years, having founded eRecruiter Africa and eOutsource.

Initially, we set out to create Goodtalent Corporation as a Technology recruitment agency. When we did our market research and spoke to over 500 companies, startups, Talent Managers and HR Leaders, their feedback was consistent around building and managing distributed teams, especially during a pandemic and post-pandemic era. Goodtalent is an HRTech company that helps organizations solve their people challenges using innovating and user-friendly HR Tech products to Streamline, Build, Onboard, Manage and Pay Distributed Teams Globally.

How does Goodtalent Corporation innovate? 

Jimmy Braimah: Firstly, we are solving the talent platform issue by creating an Applicant Tracking System, which is solely focused on Software Engineering Talent, to build and pay engineering teams with a marketplace for all talents that assist in the entire software development process. We are also creating an HR Management System for companies to onboard, manage and pay their distributed teams globally. We are going further to build another Applicant Tracking System for all types of talents. A platform where companies can crowdsource their candidates and go further to the marketplace to source and pay talents for short term projects. We are in the process of patenting our technology/platforms.

We provide ‘managed recruitment’ where you have access to your Applicant Tracking System, and you can see how we are getting on with your hiring process. Some companies want flexibility in their staffing regardless of our international boundaries. We provide staffing services in seven countries which include the United Kingdom, Estonia, Nigeria, Ghana, Ivory Coast, Kenya and Senegal. With more countries coming soon.

How does the coronavirus pandemic affect your business finances?

Jimmy Braimah: Well, for Goodtalent, it has not really affected our finances because we are just about to launch our products and services. That said, being 100% bootstrapped, Covid has slightly affected our other businesses that are the source of funding for Goodtalent.

Did you have to make difficult choices regarding human resources, and what are the lessons learned?

Jimmy Braimah: We have a very close knit-team of top performers; as a result, we have not had to make any difficult choices regarding human resources. However, we have learned that we need to grow the team and hire even more software engineers and product evangelists leading up to our launch.

How did your customer relationship management evolve? Do you use any specific tools to be efficient?

Jimmy Braimah: Covid-19 has forced every business to transform digitally. We are still in our app development phase; as a result, it has not really affected our business much. We are just about to launch one or two of our products, and we can’t wait to change how companies hire and manage their distributed teams. Within the business, we utilize Google Meet for efficiency. We can easily jump on a brainstorming session at short notice.

Did you benefit from any government grants, and did that help keep your business afloat?

Jimmy Braimah: No, not at all

Jimmy Braimah: With offices in the United Kingdom, Nigeria, Ghana and Ivory Coast, our focus is to provide a one-stop solution for Startups and larger companies who need to Streamline, Build, Onboard, Manage and Pay their distributed teams seamlessly. Companies have the option to subscribe to our platforms and do it themselves or use our ‘Recruit’ and ‘Manage’ service. Either way, we are giving companies a choice.
