We talked to Jitin Tuli of Vigyaa Anonymous about writing anonymously and the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic.

First of all, how are you and your family doing in these COVID-19 times? 

Jitin Tuli: We are doing good. It’s given time off the busy schedules and given an opportunity to bond further as a family unit.

Tell us about you, your career, how you founded Vigyaa Anonymous.

Jitin Tuli: Vigyaa Anonymous was founded by my co-founder Gaurav Goel and I back in 2006. We had this idea for broadcast networks called ‘Dear God’ where we installed physical boxes around prisons/hospitals/places of worship/malls and other prominent places. We left a letter pad with the message “Thank/Complaint/Confess or just talk to your God send him a message” We saw a phenomenal response from it. Our current idea Vigyaa Anonymous is from there is perfect for the digital world now.

How does Vigyaa Anonymous innovate? 

Jitin Tuli: We are an anonymous platform to share your feelings, there is no need to login/sign up, and we do not track users’ IP. Our machine learning algorithms are designed to help users switch their mood and not get them into a rabbit hole of things.

How the coronavirus pandemic affects your business, and how are you coping?

Jitin Tuli: We launched during Covid-19 on May 17 and have seen a phenomenal response and love from our users since then.

Did you have to make difficult choices, and what are the lessons learned?

Jitin Tuli: Difficult choices are a part of life, you fear it before taking a decision, but when you follow through, it doesn’t seem that difficult. You learn and adapt around it, and it makes you stronger 100%.

How do you deal with stress and anxiety?

Jitin Tuli: Drive around, play with my 5-year-old. He’s a real blessing.

Who are your competitors? And how do you plan to stay in the game?

Jitin Tuli: Our competition is from the likes of Quora/Reddit. Users love, listening to them and making their interaction with the platform better will keep us in the game.

Your final thoughts?

Jitin Tuli: Vigyaa Anonymous is a great platform, and we as founders are the biggest critiques of our product if it’s not nice. The user love we have seen is what we were looking for, and now we have it. Users have trusted us and shared their stories (23k+stories), which are so heartwarming and real.
