We talked to Johannes Vermeire on how POM relieves frustrations about invoices and here is what he said about it.
First of all, how are you and your family doing in these COVID-19 times?
Johannes Vermeire: Great, thank you
Tell us about you, your career, how you founded POM.
Johannes Vermeire: I worked in e-invoicing and -payments since 2007. Not satisfied with the existing solutions, together we founded POM NV in August 2014 to make products that are better aligned to billers and payers’ needs.
How does POM innovate?
Johannes Vermeire: Very flat structure with openness for internal suggestions and criticism. And of course, listening to our customers and users.
How the coronavirus pandemic affects your business, and how are you coping?
Johannes Vermeire: We’ve been working from home since March 2020 with daily virtual standups with the whole team to keep contact and exchange information – I was never so good informed about our activities as last year.
The trend for contactless (QR) payments was beneficial for us. We see an exponential increase in interest in our services.
Did you have to make difficult choices, and what are the lessons learned?
Johannes Vermeire: We grew as a company, both in customers as in personnel. So for the moment no difficult choices (and hoping it remains like this).
How do you deal with stress and anxiety?
Johannes Vermeire: Walking, biking, yoga.
Who are your competitors? And how do you plan to stay in the game?
Johannes Vermeire: Twikey, Digiteal, Mollie, Doccle. We will stay in the game by continuing to innovate.

Johannes Vermeire: We acknowledge that we were in a somehow privileged position and want to express our support to all who had the bad luck of being in more affected industries
