First of all, how are you and your family doing in these COVID-19 times?

Jonas Florinus: The family and I are fortunate not having had COVID-19. My wife and I have both rearranged to work from our home offices. A new experience, but it does work surprisingly well. Personally, I am much more productive with less travelling needed for business with customers and prospects experiencing the same thing. We lack some of the social contacts but use Teams, Zoom and Slack extensively, including our “Global Friday Family Zoom-AW,” which has actually brought us closer together.

Tell us about you, your career, how you founded GuidesAndTemplates.com.

Jonas Florinus: I have just founded GuidesAndTemplates.com, which intends to offer accessible online guides to aspiring entrepreneurs based on proven venture capital and private equity experiences.

I have 25 years of professional experience as a senior executive, 10-years of experience with venture capital and private equity, 5-years of entrepreneurial experience, and more than $8 billion of corporate transaction experience that I like to share.

How does GuidesAndTemplates.com innovate?

Jonas Florinus: We fully embrace the growing online experience and acceptance that comes from COVID-19. The GuidesAndTemplates.com team is international from Sweden, Denmark, and Germany/USA. It works remotely from our home offices, and we use online tools to build an awesome online experience for aspiring entrepreneurs and professionals within venture capital and private equity.

How the coronavirus pandemic affects your business, and how are you coping?

Jonas Florinus: We’re a recently founded startup, but we believe that online guides and templates are right where one shall be during this pandemic. We also believe that that education and dreams are eternal and the fastest road to happiness. With many people, entrepreneurs, employees, former employees, and students struggling, we like to offer proven and short guides and templates online to entrepreneurs and those considering to become an entrepreneur. Not all have access to venture capital and private equity advisors, and I feel strongly about sharing as much information and best-practice as possible.

Did you have to make difficult choices, and what are the lessons learned?

Jonas Florinus: The idea to share proven online guides and templates for startup entrepreneurs was already on my mind when COVID-19 hit society. My one-on-one advisory business with entrepreneurs, venture capital, and private equity has had a slight downturn during the lockdown. The pandemic was actually a good opportunity to kick off this new startup. A lesson learned is that older CEO’s and Board of Directors have quickly picked up on online tools such as video meetings and document sharing during the pandemic, leading to a new and healthy acceptance of remote working and less need for early-stage sales travelling. That is very supportive of a younger person’s way of living and working.

How do you deal with stress and anxiety?

Jonas Florinus: Fortunately, I am not very stressed. I wake up at 04:50 each morning, seven days a week, for a long walk and breakfast, which gives me a lot of energy for the day. Being lucky to be able to do and control what I do also helps me not be stressed or feel anxious. I’m in a lucky position.

Who are your competitors? And how do you plan to stay in the game?

Jonas Florinus: Well, there are plenty of self-made experts, YouTubers, startup incubators, startup events, and so forth. They all cater to startup entrepreneurs, but I believe I make a difference having actually done what I advise. And I still very much walk the talk. Having worked my entire career on the business side as well as the investor side also makes a difference in understanding both perspectives, I have learned. Time will tell entrepreneurs and professionals with venture capital and private equity will appreciate what I’m about to offer. I believe we have a fair chance.

Your final thoughts?

Jonas Florinus: The curse of being an entrepreneur always wants to do more. I’m sure you can relate to that. Being an entrepreneur is about ideas and the desire to create and to explore. It’s about value creation.

Value growth is not a straight path; it is to zig-zag. GuidesAndTemplates.com is set up with the sole purpose to guide, help, and inspire entrepreneurs and aspiring venture capital and private equity professionals. Fingers crossed, I hope that startup entrepreneurs will find the site and its resources valuable.
