Voucher Codes Become Big in the Pandemic

We talked to Jonathan Kelley about Vouchertoday’s exclusive voucher codes, coupon codes and discounts from over 20,000 brands & counting. This is what he had to say about it.
First of all, how are you and your family doing in these COVID-19 times?
Jonathan Kelley: We’re all ok, thank you. We’re keeping safe and keeping to the Coronavirus restrictions that have been put in place by the government. As a company, we continue to work from home, keeping our employees safe.
Tell us about you, your career, how you founded Vouchertoday.
Jonathan Kelley: We founded Vouchertoday around 5-6 years ago as a side project. It has since spawned into its own company with its own employees. We spotted a need in the market for an authentic coupon and voucher code website, which only publishes and displays valid codes. Everyone hates to have to hunt around for voucher codes online.
How does Vouchertoday innovate?
Jonathan Kelley: We have recently pushed our Chrome, Opera, and Firefox extensions, which allow users to instantly find working coupons for the website they are currently shopping on. As Chrome and Safari push for more privacy on the web, affiliates will struggle to generate revenue affecting numerous people’s jobs, so we have to innovate to other methods.
How the coronavirus pandemic affects your business, and how are you coping?
Jonathan Kelley: We are actually driving more revenue than usual, this is due to people shopping online a lot more since the pandemic, and as financial struggles start to hit, more people are driving themselves to find coupons and discount codes for the websites they need to purchase from.
Did you have to make difficult choices, and what are the lessons learned?
Jonathan Kelley: We had to stop development due to the uncertainties at the start of the pandemic since we pressed pause on our developer contracts. But since we noticed more people have started shopping online, we’ve increased our team by two developers. As a lesson, always prepare for the worst and have a contingency plan.
How do you deal with stress and anxiety?
Jonathan Kelley: As we are more remote than ever, try and separate work and life. Stop work and put down your laptop when you would usually be in the office, don’t push yourself to do the extra hour here and there. Your mental health is more important than the email that can be sent tomorrow.
Who are your competitors? And how do you plan to stay in the game?
Jonathan Kelley: Our main competitors are VoucherCodes.co.uk, Wadav, and Honey. We’re pushing to make sure our extensions and website are always packed with valid and verified discounts and coupons. We aim to make sure our users are getting the best deals possible.
Your final thoughts?
Jonathan Kelley: Keep safe, everyone, and remember, work isn’t everything.
