Kate Pawlicki Pulp Lab

We talked to Kate Pawlicki of Pulp Lab on how they’re helping people feel vital, inspired, and plugged into the future.

First of all, how are you and your family doing in these COVID-19 times?

Kate Pawlicki: We are constantly adapting to the next normal, which is a creative exercise in itself.

Tell us about you, your career, how you founded Pulp Lab.

Kate Pawlicki: Pulp Lab has been called a “Petri dish for contemporary culture,” which pretty much sums it up. I founded the company in 2007 as a digital agency, and it now spans across retail and real estate. Our latest retail outlet + eCommerce site has evolved from a pop-up concept to permanent storefront opening in February 2021 in the SoCal desert (29 Palms). We chose the location as it has a thriving entrepreneurial spirit and combines wanderlust + outdoor lifestyle + proximity to Los Angeles, San Diego and other major cities.

How does Pulp Lab innovate?

Kate Pawlicki: Outside-the-box thinking and creative maneuvering during times of rapid change.

How the coronavirus pandemic affects your business, and how are you coping?

Kate Pawlicki: It has been difficult at times, but we thrive in times of transition and have done this before during the 2008/2009 economic downturn.

Did you have to make difficult choices, and what are the lessons learned?

Kate Pawlicki: Keep focusing on the future and ride that wave.

How do you deal with stress and anxiety, how do you project yourself and Pulp Lab in the future?

Kate Pawlicki: Trying to keep a healthy lifestyle with lots of walking and talking…

Who are your competitors? And how do you plan to stay in the game?

Kate Pawlicki: We partner with brands with a similar mindset and ambition rather than focusing on competition.

Your final thoughts?

Kate Pawlicki: Our motto for our customer base is “Not an age but an attitude.”
