First of all, how are you and your family doing in these COVID-19 times?
Ken Wong: My family and I are doing well. Getting used to the new normal, everyone stays home. Kids study via online classes while I am working from home. Stay home and stay safe!
Tell us about you, your career, how you founded Whizzl.
Ken Wong: I have 20 years in software development, computer system design, and data processing facilities management. I have created, designed, and implemented tech solutions for new enterprises as well as corporates. I was the former founder of Petrosource Multimedia Sdn. Bhd., Friendster ICafe Sdn. Bhd. & KLPROP Management. Our Chairman, Dato’s William, and I got an idea that the world needs an innovative social feedback platform that simplifies and provides a transparent feedback process and minimizes the manipulation of fake accounts, fake feedback, and fake ratings Blockchain technology.
What is the USP of Whizzl?
Ken Wong: Whizzl is a location-based social feedback platform that redefines the feedback and rating system and minimizes fake content and news in the new world order with blockchain technology. Whizzl combines the ‘social experience’ with feedback to encourage users to give information and reviews while having a similar experience as they would have on other types of social media. This is combined with a host of business management tools that allow easy data management and lead to service improvement.
How does the coronavirus pandemic affect your business, and how are you facing these challenging times?
Ken Wong: Covid-19 pandemic has hastened the process of SMEs all over the world to move towards digitalization. Our user’s growth is 20% every month during this period.
Did you have to make difficult choices, and what are the lessons learned?
Ken Wong: Most of the time, our team is working from home. We have learned and improved the way on how the team can communicate and manage work remotely without physically meeting each other.
How do you deal with stress and anxiety in your daily work?
Ken Wong: When I am fully immersed in my work that I enjoy, I am not anxious or stressed.
Who are your competitors? And how do you plan to stay in the game?
Ken Wong: So far, we don’t have direct competitors. Indirect competitors will be platforms like Yelp, Zomato, and TripAdvisor. We built Whizzl in a way that combines the ‘social experience’ together with feedback within communities to encourage users to give their reviews while
having the same experience as other types of social media and empowered by blockchain technology.
Your final thoughts?
Ken Wong: Whizzl is a platform that is useful to everyone, easy to scale, and it solves unresolved problems that are happening worldwide. We welcome everyone to be part of the Whizzl story, and together we can make Whizzl be the next successful global platform.
