Kendra Liew-Glausch Katfood Skincare

We talked to Kendra Liew-Glausch of Katfood Skincare about waterless and natural skincare that brighten and smoothen even the most sensitive skin. The is what she said about it.

First of all, how are you and your family doing in these COVID-19 times?

Kendra Liew-Glausch: We’re doing great. We make a conscious effort to spend our time during lockdown productively, so we get a lot more work done than we would during normal times, which is always a plus.

Tell us about you, your career, how you founded Katfood Skincare?

Kendra Liew-Glausch: While I wouldn’t want to be anywhere else career-wise right now, my journey to this point started very differently. I began my career as a lawyer specializing in commercial and matrimonial disputes. Although I had finally achieved my childhood ambition, life as a corporate drone was not cutting it for me. To everyone’s surprise, especially my own, I quit law after four years in practice to start Katfood in 2014, and I’ve never looked back since.

How does Katfood Skincare innovate?

Kendra Liew-Glausch: As just one of many natural skincare companies out there, we stand out by innovating to make our products truly natural (not only containing watered-down plant extracts example) as well as filler and preservative-free. To do so, we have made our signature POSITIVITEA Matcha Scrub Mask waterless, a concept that has enabled us to eliminate the need for any chemical preservatives and keep our botanical ingredients raw, undiluted, and potent.

How the coronavirus pandemic affects your business, and how are you coping?

Kendra Liew-Glausch: The pandemic messed up our supply chain and, of course, cost us in terms of the closure of our physical retail partners. However, we’ve always focused on maintaining a robust online presence, and I think that has served us well during this time. We’ve had to learn to adapt our online business to global logistical uncertainties but what doesn’t kill us makes us stronger, right?!

How do you deal with stress and anxiety?

Kendra Liew-Glausch: I find yin yoga incredibly calming. Although on busy days, the last thing on my mind is setting aside an hour or two for a recreational activity, I never regret taking time out for myself. It’s on those hectic days that you need to carve out some peace.

Who are your competitors? And how do you plan to stay in the game?

Kendra Liew-Glausch: We plan to continue innovating in the waterless skincare space so as maintain our reputation as one of the few genuinely natural skincare brands out there. Our goal is, and always has been, to create skincare that our users can trust and count on.

Your final thoughts?

Kendra Liew-Glausch: While times may be challenging, diamonds are always found in the rough. There is always a way to turn a problematic situation into an opportunity. If you’re struggling, know you’re not alone and that we’ll get through this together!
