Madhu Kesavan of Way2Smile Solutions (W2S) is transforming enterprises through sustainable technology solutions
First of all, how are you and your family doing in these COVID-19 times?
Madhu Kesavan: Things could have been better. But I can’t complain a lot. Every CEO knows how to handle unknown risks and mitigate them, and that’s exactly what we are doing now. To keep families, employees, customers and ourselves safe and meet the expectations.
Tell us about you, your career, how you joined Way2Smile Solutions.
Madhu Kesavan: I am the CEO of Way2Smile Solutions, an Information Technology consulting company that helps Enterprises by offering Data Analytics, Application Development and Cloud Deployment services. Having around 20+ Years in IT consulting started this venture with the vision to “Build a Trustworthy, best in class and Global Consulting business”.
How does Way2Smile Solutions innovate?
Madhu Kesavan: Innovation is involved in everyone’s responsibility in Way2Smile Solutions. It will be process automation, simplification of existing operations or product Innovations. We constantly evolve and dynamically change our approach and identify the best practice in every department. When It comes to Information Technology, our R&D and Product development team continuously analyze where the customer pain point is and how technology can help to resolve it. Stifling innovation is against our culture, and as a company, we respect every Individual’s contribution to assess, evaluate and make collective decisions. However, innovation always needs adequate funding and energy to build and evolve, so it has to be carefully handled else will backfire on any business.
How the coronavirus pandemic affects your business, and how are you coping?
Madhu Kesavan: It hits the morale of every employee in all businesses. I feel that’s where the CEO should play a commendable job to motivate, showcase and lead them to be well handled. It’s the responsibility of the CEOs to make sure their employees are protected well, and the business can deliver results. Of course, It is not possible for all industries such as tourism and aviation, but there should be sufficient execution attempted to safeguard employees. If the decision-makers help build, sustain and grow the morale of employees, It’s their (employees) responsibility to save the business from any pandemic.
This is how it’s handled in Way2Smile Solutions.
We are an employee-driven Technology Company that builds Digital Transformation solutions for Enterprises.
Did you have to make difficult choices, and what are the lessons learned?
Madhu Kesavan: As a CEO, our availability is always required from all stakeholders. Maintaining the Work-Life Balance and trying to have family time is always challenging. Especially in this Pandemic and Post Pandemic, Pressure mounting on CEO’s to grow the business, which demands frequent travelling and meetings. It increases the risk of personal health and not being able to spend time with families and kids.
What specific tools, software and management skills are you using to navigate this crisis?
Madhu Kesavan: Frequent communication with everyone, including customers, employees, and leaders, is a must.
Video calls are mandatory at least once a month with employees to showcase existence and align everyone together.
Who are your competitors? And how do you plan to stay in the game?
Madhu Kesavan: I don’t feel there is a Monopoly in any Industry now, and IT Technology, Product and consulting business is not an exception here. Companies with similar offerings co-exist now, but it depends on the leadership team’s skillsets to identify niche opportunities, immediately grasp them and align employees to continuously evolve themselves towards the new goals.
Your final thoughts?
Madhu Kesavan: Consultants are easy to find, but consultants who add real value to customers by understanding their business problem and matching with what can be done with technology is tough to find. It needs a discovery session, and that’s where we are good at.
