First of all, how are you and your family doing in these COVID-19 times?
Maged Farid: We are doing well and safe, thank you.
Tell us about you, your career, how you founded DW DESIGNS.
Maged Farid: I am a web developer and started my career as a freelancer 11 years ago. Back then, building a professional website was very hard and costly. I founded DW DESIGNS in 2013 in Egypt, and our main focus was to offer professional web solutions at an affordable price.
We started by using popular CMSs, and after some time, we started to build our own web solutions. We have built a lot of custom themes and designs for all popular content management systems to better suit our local market in Egypt and the Middle East.
How does DW DESIGNS innovate?
Maged Farid: We are always in search of solutions that meet our local market needs. Most web solutions don’t have Arabic support, so we try to create and participate a lot in developing such solutions.
We have designed some of the biggest websites in Egypt and the Middle East using science-based data to drive traffic and get a high conversion rate.
How the coronavirus pandemic affects your business, and how are you coping?
Maged Farid: It is a hard time for some businesses, but also some businesses had started to move their business online.
So we have lost some clients after COVID-19 but also worked with new clients from different industries. We have designed and developed a lot of online course websites during this COVID-19 pandemic.
Did you have to make difficult choices, and what are the lessons learned?
Maged Farid: Yes, we have been through some hard decisions. We decided that we will do our work entirely remotely. This made us create some complex web solutions for project management, team management, etc… It was very hard at the beginning, but it paid off later.
We learned that you have to be fast to adapt to changes. Our mindset has changed after going through these hard times.
