We talked to Makkai Mátyás on how SEOlympic helps small businesses grow through organic SEO and this is what he said.

First of all, how are you and your family doing in these COVID-19 times?

Makkai Mátyás: Fortunately, everyone is doing great. None of my family members were infected with the virus, and they all managed to keep their working jobs, which is entirely something during these unprecedented times.

Tell us about you, your career, how you founded SEOlympic?

Makkai Mátyás: I’m a 22-year old entrepreneur from Romania. I’m the co-founder of the SEOlympic SEO agency that my fiancée and I started back in 2018, intending to help SMB’s & startups take their business to the next level through the power of organic SEO. Unlike most marketing agencies, we focus exclusively on Search engine optimization to help our clients get more traffic & sales from search by ranking their website on top of Google’s organic search results. Over the past two years, we’ve helped more than 100 SMB’s to better online visibility. Our mission is still the same as initially: We want to build a bridge between its targeted audience and website.

I consider myself a hard-working, detail-oriented person with experience ranging from working for small startups to multimillion-dollar companies. I always focus on delivering a precise, effective, and professional job.

How does SEOlympic innovate?

Makkai Mátyás: Our company innovates by keeping up and implementing the latest SEO methods, improving our online visibility, and reaching more clients.

How the coronavirus pandemic affects your business, and how are you coping?

Makkai Mátyás: At the beginning of the pandemic, our company was very much affected. As a result of the first lock-down, we’ve lost some big clients because as their income sources got cut off, they couldn’t afford to spend on SEO anymore. I admit, we were a bit scared at that point, but thinking back now, I believe we needed to step up our game. Since then, we’ve updated our website, improved our services, and developed a new email marketing strategy, which has been a crucial part of our lead generation process.

Did you have to make difficult choices, and what are the lessons learned?

Makkai Mátyás: The most difficult choice I had to make was sacrificing some of my free family time to make sure that everything will be all right with the company, and the lesson I learned from this is that no matter the circumstances, you should always be prepared and have a plan B for a situation like this.

How do you deal with stress and anxiety?

Makkai Mátyás: I’m not a stressed person, so I don’t deal with stress or anxiety in any way. It seems natural that I shouldn’t worry or stress about the things that I can’t control.

Who are your competitors? And how do you plan to stay in the game?

Makkai Mátyás: We’re providing SEO services worldwide, so in a way, all the existing SEO agencies are our competitors. Our plan for staying in the game (and then winning it) is that we only do what we do best. We’re not a big advertising company that offers all kinds of services starting from PPC to logo design, but a small team of passionate SEO specialists. We focus exclusively on organic SEO, giving us a more customized experience for our clients, and delivering better results.

Your final thoughts?

Makkai Mátyás: I’d like to close this interview with a quote from Sting, which in my opinion, perfectly sums up the whole covid19 situation: “When the world is running down, you make the best of what’s still around.”
